Phylogeography of the gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) in the eastern United States [PDF]
Molecular data have been used to show northward post-Pleistocene range expansions from a refugium in the southeastern United States for several mammal species. Fossil and historical records indicate that gray foxes (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) were not present in the northeastern United States until well after the Pleistocene (ca. 900).

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Seasonal influenza A virus (SIAV) apparently exhibits a paradoxical pattern: despite a lower basic reproduction number (R₀) than SARS-CoV-2, it propagates across the Northern Hemisphere with remarkable speed and synchronicity.

Sixteen space-filling curves and traversals for d-dimensional cubes and simplices [PDF]
This article describes sixteen different ways to traverse d-dimensional space recursively in a way that is well-defined for any number of dimensions. Each of these traversals has distinct properties that may be beneficial for certain applications.

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

VIRIM, A Real-Time Volume Rendering System for Medicine [PDF]
VIRIM, a real-time direct volume rendering system is presented. The system is freely programmable and supports models like a-compositing, front-to-back (back-to-front) techniques, and the slab method.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Reflectance of Gray and White Compressed Concrete Paving Units with Different Surfaces [PDF]
This study aims to measure the reflectance of outdoor compressed concrete paving units. The samples are in common size of compressed concrete paving units which is 20cm * 20cm * 6cm. The first cause of gradually worsening environment is that most of artificial pavements and building shells in the cities are made of materials at low reflectance, so that

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
