Composition and Resulting Band Alignment at the TiO2/InP Heterointerface: A Fundamental Study Combining Photoemission Spectroscopy and Theory

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 21, 12 March 2026.
The chemical composition and band alignment are systematically investigated at the TiO2/InP heterointerface. Thin TiO2 films are deposited by ALD on atomically ordered, P‐terminated p‐InP(100). By combining UPS, XPS, and ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomistic structure and electronic alignment are revealed.

Design Strong S-Boxes Based on Gray Wolf Optimizer

open access: yes, 2023
In this study, a method for robust designs of 8 × 8 substitution boxes (S-boxes) was developed using a metaheuristic approach based on nature-inspired Grey Wolf Optimization algorithm (GWO). The GWO developed as a unique metaheuristic using inspiration from how grey wolves hunt.

ShenQi DiHuang Decoction (SQDHD) Ameliorates Neuroinflammation and Neuropsychiatric Manifestations in Pristane Induced Lupus Mice via Blocking JAK1‐STAT3 Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2026.
SQDHD exerts neuroprotective effects and alleviates behavioral deficits in PIL mice, likely by inhibiting the JAK1‐STAT3 pathway in activated CVECs. These findings underscore the therapeutic potential of SQDHD and establish it as a promising candidate for the treatment of NPSLE.

Coyotes Choose Cover Over Concrete When Selecting Den Sites

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Reproductive decision‐making impacts fitness, especially in dynamic urban environments. Thus, we assessed urban coyote den site selection in Atlanta, GA. We found that coyotes made decision on both the site and structure of dens to mitigate fitness related risk and safeguard their young.

Unveiling Diet Preferences and Their Nutritional Drivers Through Metabarcoding: The Case of Alpine Marmot (Marmota marmota L.) in High Altitude Grazed Pastures

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
The alpine marmot (Marmota marmota), a crucial component of alpine ecosystems, serves both as a key player in the food chain and as an ‘ecosystem engineer.’ Employing DNA metabarcoding of fecal samples, this study investigated the diet composition and foraging strategies of four alpine marmot colonies across diverse alpine pasture ecosystems throughout

Capacity Optimization and Hierarchical Robust Control Verification of Wind–Solar–Diesel Hybrid Microgrid Based on Improved Multi‐Objective Grey Wolf Algorithm

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
To address high‐altitude power transmission challenges, a composite controller was developed to suppress strong wind interference, demonstrating the effectiveness of hierarchical control in complex dynamic systems. Hardware‐in‐the‐loop experiments verified the robustness of the control algorithm, providing methodological support for developing ...

HADA: A Hybrid Anomaly Detection Approach Using Unsupervised Machine Learning

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Overview of HADA, an unsupervised fraud detection pipeline that preprocesses and scales transaction data, applies PCA for dimensionality reduction, scores anomalies using Isolation Forest, selects anomalous transactions via thresholding, and clusters the selected anomalies using Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (AHC) to produce interpretable ...

Quasi Opposition–Based Learning With Artificial Rabbit Optimization for Feature Selection of Breast Cancer

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Workflow of proposed QOBL‐ARO with GS‐SVM method for BC using mammogram images. ABSTRACT Mammogram images are the most appropriate modality for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis which supports early diagnosis in women. However, the handcrafted features are insufficient for effective BC classification, which negatively impacts the model's accuracy and leads ...
