The Roles of Labor and Profitability in Choosing a Grazing Strategy for Beef Production in the U.S. Gulf Coast Region [PDF]

open access: yes
Comparisons are made concerning labor required and profitability associated with continuous grazing at three stocking rates and rotational grazing at a high stocking rate in the U.S. Gulf Coast region.

Evidence based review: positive versus negative effects of livestock grazing on wildlife. What do we really know?

open access: yes, 2016
More than a quarter of earth’s land surface is used for grazing domestic livestock. Livestock grazing is generally assumed to negatively affect wildlife, however, a number of studies have found positive impacts as well.

Geometrically‐Screened, Sterically‐Hindered Additive for Wide‐Temperature Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecular‑engineering strategy combining steric hindrance tuning with geometric optimization identifies cellobiose as an ideal additive for aqueous zinc‑ion batteries, enabling stable Zn deposition across a wide temperature range from −30 to 50 °C. Abstract Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries (AZIBs) are emerging as a highly promising alternative to lithium ...

The influence of grazing on surface climatological variables of tallgrass prairie [PDF]

open access: yes
Mass and energy exchange between most grassland canopies and the atmosphere are mediated by grazing activities. Ambient temperatures can be increased or decreased by grazers.

Enhancing Synaptic Plasticity and Multistate Retention of Organic Neuromorphic Devices Using Anion‐Excessive Gel Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Anion‐excessive gel‐based organic synaptic transistors (AEG‐OSTs) that can maintain electrical neutrality are developed to enhance synaptic plasticity and multistate retention. Key improvement is attributed to the maintenance of electrical neutrality in the electrolyte even after electrochemical doping, which reduces the Coulombic force acting on ...

Uniform In‐Plane Growth of Large‐Area Ultrathin Zn2(benzimidazole)4 Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multicycle, ultradilute exposure strategy enables uniform in‐plane growth of ultrathin Zn2(benzimidazole)4 membranes on graphene, suppressing bulk nucleation and defects. The resulting centimeter‐scale films deliver high H2/CO2 separation performance, and are highly reproducible.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...
