The Effect of Strip Grazing on Physical Activity and Behavior in Ponies

Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, 2022
This work aimed to determine the effect of strip grazing on physical activity in ponies using behavioral observations alongside accelerometers positioned at the poll. In study one, ten British native breed ponies were randomly assigned to paddock A (50 × 110 m) or B (50 × 110 m divided into seven equal strips with access to one additional strip per day)

Grazing instabilities and post-bifurcation behavior in an impacting string

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002
A theoretical and experimental investigation of the nonlinear dynamic response of a periodically excited string subject to a knife-edge amplitude restraint is presented. The amplitude restraint creates an impact condition as the amplitude of the response grows.

Grazing behavior and diet selection of goats

Small Ruminant Research, 1988
Abstract Goats possess characteristics including versatility in harvesting forage and ability to survive under adverse foraging conditions which set them apart from other species of livestock. Classification of goats as grazers or browsers is equivocal especially when grazing patterns are examined over a variety of environmental conditions.

Effect of Time of Supplementation on Performance and Grazing Behavior of Grazing Steers

2020
Beef cattle follow a daily, cyclical pattern of grazing, rumination, and digestion that coincides with their environment and season. Traditionally backgrounding operations hand feed any supplement in the morning. However, this practice may interrupt typical grazing patterns during early morning and subsequent rumination during the heat of the day. Self-

Timing of supplementation on intake and grazing behavior dairy cows

Tropical Animal Health and Production
The objective was to evaluate the response of New Zealand Holstein cows to concentrate supplementation at contrasting times of the day on herbage intake and ingestive behavior. Two experiments were conducted in winter and spring-summer in a grazing dairy production system of Medicago sativa L. with Dactylis glomerata L. pastures.

Recent progress in the study of behavior and management in grazing cattle

Animal Science Journal, 2010
ABSTRACTRecent progress in studies concerning behavior of, and management for, grazing cattle are reviewed. Since 1950, much study has been conducted on ‘How’, ‘When’, ‘Where’ and ‘How long’ regarding grazing. After the 1980s, grazing ecology introduced the concept of hierarchy at different spatial and temporal scales, and since then grazing behavior ...

Biochemical Aspect of Grazing Behavior on Mediterranean Rangelands.

2006
Vast arrays of the Mediterranean plants contain secondary compounds that are potentially toxic to herbivore. The herbivore’ s challenge is to acquire sufficient nutrients to evade starvation and produce viable offspring and yet avoid the consumption of lethal doses of secondary compounds (toxins).
