Noisy Information, Interest Rate Shocks and the Great Moderation [PDF]
In this paper we quantitatively evaluate the hypothesis that the Great Moderation is partly the result of a less activist monetary policy. We simulate a New Keynesian model where the central bank can only observe a noisy estimate of the output gap and ...

Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.

Do expectations matter? The Great Moderation revisited [PDF]
We examine the role of expectations in the Great Moderation episode. We derive theoretical restrictions in a New-Keynesian model and test them using measures of expectations obtained from survey data, the Greenbook and bond markets.

The Great Moderation and the ‘Bernanke Conjecture’ [PDF]
Was the Great Moderation in the United States due to good policy or good luck? Taking, as data generation process, a New Keynesian sticky-price model in which the only source of change is the move from a passive to an active monetary rule, we show how ...

Financial Deregulation and the Great Moderation [PDF]
I investigate the effects of financial deregulation on the volatility of macroeconomic variables. First, I develop a model of small business borrowing that explicitly incorporates borrowing costs. I embed the optimal small business borrowing contract model into a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium model.
