Analysis of the Strain of the Great Saphenous Vein in Motion

Bio-Medical Materials and Engineering, 2014
This research probes into the strain changes of the great saphenous vein (GSV) during step exercises. Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) were used to process and develop Gauge Factors (GF=4.79±0.247), 5 males and 5 females with an average age of 20±0.6 years were asked to engage in step exercises (with step height of 25cm), and the strain changes of

Blunt traumatic great saphenous vein pseudoaneurysm

Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 2018
AbstractTraumatic venous pseudoaneurysm is extremely rare. Only two cases of great saphenous venous (GSV) pseudoaneurysm have been reported. We present a case in which a gradually enlarged mass occurred at the calf after local injury. It was nonpulsatile and varied in size with posture. It was initially misdiagnosed by contrast MRI.

Vasa vasorum of the human great saphenous vein

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2002
The distribution of the vasa vasorum of the human great saphenous vein (GSV) was studied on veins taken both post-mortem and peroperatively. It was found that the stems of feeding vessels approach the venous wall at intervals of 1.5-2.5 cm; their smaller branches first passed the fascial compartments of the GSV and then entered the adventitia at ...

Thrombophlebitis of the great saphenous vein – recommendations for treatment

Phlebology: The Journal of Venous Disease, 2008
Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of great saphenous vein (GSV) thrombosis in symptomatic patients and its possible relationship to complications usually attributed to deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Methods To quantitate the frequency of GSV thrombosis and evaluate its possible morbidity, we reviewed all the venous ...

Primary great saphenous varicose veins revisited

World Journal of Surgery, 1986
Our knowledge of the prevalence, pathogenesis, and treatment of primary great saphenous varicose veins has been reviewed. There is now evidence that potentially correctable environmental factors contribute importantly to the development of primary varicose veins, but what these factors are is not known.
