As many species shift their geographic ranges coldward due to global warming, communities will undergo “thermophilization”—the increasing relative abundance of warm‐adapted (“thermophilic”) species and the concomitant decrease of cold‐adapted species over time.

Greater North Sea ecoregion – Fisheries overview, including mixed-fisheries considerations
Around 6600 fishing vessels are active in the Greater North Sea. Total landings peaked in the 1970s at 4 million tonnes and have since declined to about 2 million tonnes. Total fishing effort has declined substantially since 2003.

Using big ‘messy’ data to model species distributions for spatial conservation management
Achieving global biodiversity goals such as the 30 × 30 target hinges on effective spatial conservation management, underpinned by reliable species distribution models. Yet, these models often rely on large, ‘messy’ datasets that are biased and incomplete, particularly for species that are difficult to sample.

Mediterranean‐type ecosystems (MTEs) are highly vulnerable to climate change, with drought, wildfire and climate variability (among other disturbances) causing measurable changes in vegetation condition, growth, diversity, physiology and phenology; yet observational studies remain scarce compared to experimental and modelling studies.
