Hearing and evasive behaviour in the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (Pyralidae)
Physiological Entomology, 2000Summary Greater wax moths ( Galleria mellonella L., Pyraloidea) use ultrasound sensitive ears to detect clicking conspecifics and echolocating bats. Pyralid ears have four sensory cells, A 1−4 .

Primary structure of apolipophorin-III from the greater wax moth,Galleria mellonella
Journal of Protein Chemistry, 1998The complete amino acid sequence of apolipophorin-III (apoLp-III), a lipid-binding hemolymph protein from the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella, was determined by protein sequencing. The mature protein consists of 163 amino acid residues forming a protein of 18,075.5 Da.

Pheromone receptor system in the females of the greater wax moth Galleria mellonella
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1977Abstract Electroantennogram studies of female Galleria mellonella showed a two-acceptor system for the sex pheromones, n-nonanal and n-undecanal, produced by the male. The nine carbon pheromone reacts with both acceptors, however, n-undecanal only reacts with the acceptor for the eleven carbon pheromone.

Effect of zymosan on phagocytosis in larvae of the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella
Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1968Abstract Larvae of the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella , were more susceptible to infection by bacteria after intrahemocoelic injections of zymosan. Although the zymosan particles were rapidly phagocytized, efficiency of the phagocytes was not impaired.

Serological characterization of soluble proteins in greater wax moth larval blood
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1986Abstract 1. 1. The pattern of larval blood proteins of the last seventh instar of the greater wax moth was characterized using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under non-denaturating buffer systems and the Ouchterlony double immunodiffusion test. 2. 2.
