Fermion Masses and Mixings in GUTs with Non-Canonical U(1)_Y [PDF]
We discuss fermion masses and mixings in models derived from orbifold GUTs such that gauge coupling unification is achieved without low energy supersymmetry by utilizing a non-canonical U(1)_Y. A gauged U(1)_X flavor symmetry plays an essential role, and

Localized anomalies in orbifold gauge theories
We apply the path-integral formalism to compute the anomalies in general orbifold gauge theories (including possible non-trivial Scherk-Schwarz boundary conditions) where a gauge group G is broken down to subgroups H_f at the fixed points y=y_f. Bulk and

GLSMs for non-Kahler Geometries [PDF]
We identify a simple mechanism by which H-flux satisfying the modified Bianchi identity arises in garden-variety (0,2) gauged linear sigma models.

A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Dark Matter With Stückelberg Axions
Here, we review a class of models which generalize the traditional Peccei-Quinn (PQ) axion solution by a Stückelberg pseudoscalar. Such axion models represent a significant variant with respect to earlier scenarios, where axion fields were associated ...

Identification and Reversible Optical Switching of NV+ Centers in Diamond
NV+ centers in diamond are predicted to coexist with NV0 and NV– centers, but direct experimental confirmation remains challenging. Using positron annihilation spectroscopy with in situ light illumination, a charge transition NV+/0 is observed at 1.234(8) eV.

Global anomalies & bordism of non-supersymmetric strings
The three tachyon-free non-supersymmetric string theories in ten dimensions provide a handle on quantum gravity away from the supersymmetric lamppost.

Abelian Flavour Symmetries in Supersymmetric Models
We propose a theory of flavour based on abelian horizontal gauge symmetries and modular invariances. We construct explicit supergravity models where the scale of the horizontal $U(1)$ symmetry breaking is fixed by the Green-Schwarz mechanism for anomaly ...

This study investigates the role of triply periodic minimal structures in load bearing bone tissue engineering applications. Research uses a combination of mechanical testing, material characterization, and in vitro tests to study the impact of TPMS lattice structures (gyroid, lidinoid and split‐P).
