Can the string scale be related to the cosmic baryon asymmetry?

open access: yes, 2004
In a previous work, a mechanism was presented by which baryon asymmetry can be generated during inflation from elliptically polarized gravitons. Nonetheless, the mechanism only generated a realistic baryon asymmetry under special circumstances which ...

On the strongly coupled heterotic string [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We analyze in detail the anomaly cancellation conditions for the strongly coupled $E_8 \times E_8$ heterotic string introduced by Horava and Witten and find new features compared to the ten-dimensional Green-Schwarz mechanism.

Electrochemical Anodization for the Fabrication of Wafer‐Scale p‐Type Organic Permeable Base Transistors Arrays with MHz Operation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a wafer‐scale fabrication method for high‐performance p‐type organic permeable base transistors (OPBTs) using electrochemical anodization. The anodized OPBTs achieve high on‐current density, low leakage, MHz‐range operation, and exceptional current gain.

Gauged D=7 Supergravity on the S**1/Z_2 Orbifold

open access: yes, 2005
We construct the most general couplings of a bulk seven-dimensional Yang-Mills-Einstein N=2 supergravity with a boundary six-dimensional chiral N=(0,1) theory of vectors and charged hypermultiplets.

Self‐Detecting Mid‐Infrared Dual‐Comb Spectroscopy Based on High‐Speed Injection‐Locked Quantum Cascade Lasers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A compact self‐detecting dual‐comb spectroscopy (DCS) system based on dispersion‐engineered, high‐speed packaged quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) at λ≈4.6 μm under coherent injection locking is demonstrated. Broad multiheterodyne comb signal with reduced tooth linewidths by orders of magnitude is recorded.

Tailored 3D Lattice Microstructures for Enhanced Functionality in Blood‐Gas Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Common hollow fiber structures are associated with inhomogeneous flow, leading to many complications in the medical application of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Using locally adapted lattice structures, the overall flow distribution can be manipulated.

Product differentiation in the fruit industry: Lessons from trademarked apples

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract We derive price premiums for patented or trademarked apple varieties, also known as “club apples,” compared to open‐variety apples. We use an expansive retail scanner dataset, along with unique data on apple taste characteristics, to estimate monthly club apple premiums for 2008–2018.

Trilinear Gauge Interactions in Extensions of the Standard Model and Unitarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We summarize recent work on the characterization of anomaly poles in connection with the field-theory interpretation of the Green-Schwarz mechanism of anomaly cancellation and on their effective field theories, stressing on the properties of the anomaly ...

Analyzing individual rent price ratios in eastern German agricultural land markets: A GAMLSS approach

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explores the rent price ratio in agricultural land markets, crucial for evaluating market efficiency, policy needs, and farmer decision‐making. Traditionally, the analyses faced challenges due to the absence of concurrent sale and rent data for the same land, potentially leading to biased results.

Yukawa Textures and Anomalies

open access: yes, 1994
We augment the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with a gauged family-dependent $U(1)$ to reproduce Yukawa textures compatible with experiment. In the simplest model with one extra chiral electroweak singlet field, acceptable textures require this $U(
