Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

High-Impact Practices (HIPs) Spectrum: Introducing the High-Engagement Experiences (HEEs) Taxonomy

open access: yesJournal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
: High-Engagement Experiences, or HEEs, are introduced as part of a new classification taxonomy: The High-Impact Practices (HIPs) Spectrum. The introduction of the HIPs Spectrum is relevant because it expands educators’ definition of HIPs from binary to ...

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Measuring student success using the High-Impact Practices Spectrum: Evidence for the value of High Engagement Experiences

open access: yesJournal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
The HIPs Spectrum is a taxonomy for assessing and categorizing courses along a continuum based on elements of High Impact Practices (Author et al., under review). This study provides quantitative evidence for the validity and impact of the HIPs Spectrum

Insights into pegRNA design from editing of the cardiomyopathy‐associated phospholamban R14del mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA) secondary structure and reverse transcriptase template length affect prime editing efficiency in correcting the phospholamban R14del cardiomyopathy‐associated mutation. Insights support the design of structurally optimized enhanced pegRNAs for precise gene therapy.

Green, Green Destiny

open access: yesThe Iowa Review, 1988
"THOSE BAPTISTS will plop a church down anywhere. All those evan gels are just the same. Driving home today I saw where they converted the old drawbridge tollbooth, converted it right into a sinners do-drop in. I would not be the least bit surprised or astonished to see some small new meeting hall cropped up anywhere.

Single‐cell insights into the role of T cells in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell technologies have transformed our understanding of T cell–tumor cell interactions in B‐cell malignancies, revealing new T‐cell subsets, functional states, and immune evasion mechanisms. This Review synthesizes these findings, highlighting the roles of T cells in pathogenesis, progression, and therapy response, and underscoring their ...

How Green is Green?

open access: yesÖkologisches Wirtschaften - Fachzeitschrift, 2012
What is behind the concept of a Green Economy, advanced at the Rio-2012 conference? The case of protection and use of forests in India exemplifies the most important challenges: Green cannot be green without equity and justice.

From Green Users to Green Voters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We estimate the effect of the diffusion of photovoltaic (PV) systems on the fraction of votes obtained by the German Green Party. The logistic diffusion of PV systems offers a new identification strategy. We take first differences and instrument adoption rates (i.e. the first difference in the diffusion level) by lagged diffusion levels.
