Planning of urban park green space layout - adopting an optimization model

open access: yesSustainable Buildings
This paper briefly introduces a park green space evaluation model based on supply and demand accessibility, the K-means algorithm for determining the optimal number of new green spaces, and an improved genetic algorithm (GA) for planning these spaces ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Disaster consequence mitigation and evaluation of roadside green spaces in Nanjing

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management, 2019
The extensive layout of roadside green spaces make them important green disaster mitigation nodes in high-density areas of any city; hence, further improvements in their disaster mitigation functions would make the urban disaster prevention system more ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Brownian Motion on a Green Space

open access: yesTheory of Probability & Its Applications, 1957
The space R, locally isometric to an open N-dimensional sphere, is called a Green space of dimensionality N. A Markov process in this space which is locally a Brownian motion of dimensionality N we shall call a Brownian motion in R. It is shown that for each value of the variance parameter there exists synonymously a transition probability for the ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The impact of blue-green spatial landscape pattern on population distribution pattern in Chinese cities

open access: yesScientific Reports
With urbanization accelerating, the impact of blue-green spaces on population distribution has gained increasing importance. This study uses the Chinese Annual Land Cover Dataset (CLCD) and ArcGIS to examine urban blue-green space patterns from 2000 to ...
