Reduction in D-dimer levels after treatment with Auxora in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia

open access: yesThrombosis Update
Introduction: A phase 2 double-blinded trial (CARDEA) (NCT04345614) in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 revealed that intravenous zegocractin treatment (Auxora™) was associated with improved clinical outcomes compared to standard of care (SOC).

Soil carbon in regenerating high country grassland agroecosystems in New Zealand

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Pastoral grasslands in New Zealand's mountainous landscapes contribute substantially to a primarily agricultural national economy. This landscape supports mosaics of regenerating indigenous biodiversity among more productive naturalized exotic herbage, each raising fundamental ecological, agronomic, and environmental concerns.

Estimating density of an unmarked, low‐density wild turkey population

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Eastern wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris, hereafter turkey) populations have been declining across the southeastern United States, including Oklahoma. Little is known about current turkey population numbers, as no robust method has been established for density estimation.

Hunting impacts male wild turkey space use and resource selection: insights from a hunted and non‐hunted population

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 49, Issue S1, December 2025.
Male wild turkeys modify their behavior in response to hunting pressure, yet most studies have inferred these effects using only hunted populations. We compared movement and habitat selection of males in a hunted population and a non‐hunted population in South Carolina, USA.

Multi‐scale evaluation of eastern wild turkey nest‐site selection and nest survival

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 49, Issue S1, December 2025.
We investigated eastern wild turkey nest site selection and determined the influence of vegetation and female behavior on nest survival across 3 ecoregions in North Carolina, USA. Female turkeys selected nest sites with greater forb and woody understory, and nests were in areas with more shrubland and herbaceous cover than randomly available.

Fluid Pressure Diffusion and Elastic Stress Transfer From Seismic Slip Control Slip Front Expansion in Fluid‐Driven Swarm Seismicity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Observations of fluid‐driven swarm seismicity expanding with the same diffusive space‐time behavior as analytical solutions for aseismic slip have been interpreted as evidence that stress changes from aseismic slip trigger seismic slip. In some cases, aseismic slip is confirmed from crustal deformation measurements or sheared wellbore casing ...

Text and Topos: British Travellers to Real‐and‐Imagined Classical Sites, c. 1560–1820

open access: yesHistory, Volume 110, Issue 393, Page 588-605, December 2025.
Abstract Early‐modern British travellers to the Mediterranean often understood their journeys through the lens of classical texts and culture. Historians sometimes explain this as an imaginative phenomenon: travellers’ preconceptions shaped by classical knowledge guided their subsequent comprehension and activity.

“What If I Call Them the Smurfs?” Comparing Marginalized People Who Use Drugs’ Experiences and Interactions with Auxiliary and Sworn Police Officers

open access: yesThe Howard Journal of Crime and Justice, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 453-463, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Police civilianization represents one of the most significant developments in contemporary policing. However, little is known about how marginalized communities, who are routinely subjected to civilian police work, perceive, and experience these actors.

How Binding Is Administrative Guidance? An Empirical Study of Guidance, Rules, and the Courts Telling Them Apart

open access: yesJournal of Empirical Legal Studies, Volume 22, Issue 4, Page 655-689, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Guidance documents are a main pillar of the modern administrative state. While federal agencies issue thousands of rules every year through notice‐and‐comment rulemaking, they issue even more guidance documents in various forms. There is, however, an ongoing and fierce dispute over agencies' ability to create binding obligations through ...

White‐tailed deer preferentially use areas with greater anthropogenic development in a suburban metropark system

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Urban expansion and anthropogenic development result in wildlife‐habitat loss and fragmentation, increased human–wildlife conflicts, and biodiversity loss across the globe. However, some animal species are well adapted to anthropogenic land use and find novel foraging opportunities or refuge from predation in urban and suburban areas.
