Greenhouse gas benefits of fighting obesity [PDF]

open access: yes
Obesity has become a serious public health problem in both industrialized and rapidly industrializing countries. It increases greenhouse gas emissions through higher fuel needs for transportation of heavier people, lifecycle emissions from additional ...

Interface Controlled Electric Field Swing Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Swing adsorption of Ar, N2, and CO2 under moderate electric fields and elevated pressures at room temperature is investigated. Multiple charged conductor‐insulator interfaces enable a selective adsorption behavior of the three gases while CO2 shows a 10 fold increase in the effect over Ar and N2.

Hydrocarbon indication in Rio Bonito Formation sandstone: Implication for CO2 storage in São Paulo, Brazil

open access: yesEnergy Geoscience
São Paulo State has witnessed CO2 storage-based investigations considering the availability of suitable geologic structures and proximity to primary CO2 source sinks related to bioenergy and carbon capture and storage (BECCS) activities.

Leakage and Comparative Advantage Implications of Agricultural Participation in Greenhouse Gas Emission Mitigation [PDF]

open access: yes
The world is moving toward efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Net emission reduction efforts may involve the agricultural sector through options such as planting of trees, crop and livestock management changes, and production of biofuels ...

Color‐Tunable Glass for Adaptable Thermal Management Based on Silver Phase Change

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article presents an Ag particle‐based thermal management device achieving both selective visible reflection and effective heat flux control. Morphological changes of silver during annealing enable tunable color and thermal regulation via a simple fabrication process.

Interaction between Local Air Pollution and Global warming Policy and its Policy Implications [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we study the policy interactions between meeting a greenhouse gas emission constraint and local air pollution policies. We use a partial equilibrium model of a national energy market to address three questions.

Achieving Complex Nanostructures: The Role of Hydrogen in Controlling Mechanical Alloying and Microstructure Evolution in the TiVZrNbHf‐Cu System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the drastic influence hydrogen has on the microstructure evolution during severe plastic deformation. High‐pressure torsion of a TiVZrNbHf‐Cu composite results in mechanical alloying and subsequent amorphization, whereas replacing the high entropy alloy with the corresponding hydride stabilizes a two‐phase microstructure.
