Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by recycling plastics and textiles into products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Waste management generates greenhouse gas emissions. New waste management concepts for reducing these emissions are continuously being developed. In this study the potential of material recovery to reduce greenhouse gas emissions was assessed.

Data‐Driven Modeling of Composition–Processing–Microstructure Relations for Recycled Aluminum Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interpretable machine learning reveals how composition and processing govern the formation and microstructural burden of Fe‐rich intermetallic compounds in recycled Al–Si–Fe–Mn alloys. By separating morphology selection from morphology‐conditioned burden partitioning, this framework shows that identical Fe contents can yield different intermetallic ...

Costs, Energy Savings and Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Energy Efficiency Measures in Existing Detached Houses; A Norwegian Case Study

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems
Energy efficiency measures for existing buildings are some of the most important actions towards reducing energy demand and greenhouse gas  emissions in society. Much is known regarding which measures provide the greatest energy savings, but this is

Greenhouse gas emissions from soils under organic management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This report was presented at the UK Organic Research 2002 Conference. Land emissions of N2O, CO2 and NH3 have been subject to little study under organic systems, yet form important aspects of sustainability of such systems.

Reaction‐Induced Reversible Reconstruction Enhanced Ni‐MgO/CaO Dual Functional Material for Stable CO2 Capture and In Situ Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A highly dispersed NiO‐MgO solid solution (MgxNi1‐xO) is created in a hierarchically porous Ca‐based matrix to protect Ni and CaO nanoparticles against carbon deposition and sintering. Owing to the reversible reconstruction of MgxNi1‐xO, this superior structure is self‐regenerative in the calcium looping dry reforming of methane process, thereby ...

Construction of linkage indicators of greenhouse gas emissions for Aquitaine region [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes to construct linkage indicators of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the Aquitaine region of France by using the notion of vertical integration with a presentation of results in the form of block.

W‐N‐C Tandem Catalytic Centers Mediating Efficient Charge Transfer for the Enhanced Radical‐Path U(VI) Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work constructed a tandem W−N−C center to simultaneously achieve the regulation of reaction pathways and optimization of charge separation efficiency. The Lewis‐acidic W6+ sites activated O2 to generate O2−$O_2^ - $, with enhanced charge separation via electronic modulation, steering U(VI) reduction down an efficient radical pathway.

Enhancing Biogenic Formic Acid Production in the Modified OxFA Process by Acetonitrile Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, the beneficial effect of using acetonitrile as a co‐solvent in the modified OxFA process is shown, outperforming methanol, demonstrating improved reaction kinetics combined with high selectivity for the HPA‐2 (H5PV2Mo10O40) catalyzed oxidation of xylose to FA.

Methane: A Neglected Greenhouse Gas [PDF]

open access: yes
Methane is a greenhouse gas that gets far less public attention than carbon dioxide. This is entirely unwarranted. Being 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide in trapping heat in the atmosphere, methane accounts for about one-sixth of all ...
