Trends in cardiovascular disease among Inuit in Greenland from 1994 to 2021
Background and aims: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) poses significant health challenges globally. While substantial data exists for most populations, the Arctic Inuit's CVD incidence rates remain understudied.

Recent deposition of 210Pb on the Greenland ice sheet: variations in space and time [PDF]
Detailed 210Pb profiles were determined for four Chernobyl dated\u27 snowpits sampled during a wide-ranging survey of the Greenland ice sheet during the 1988 season.

East Greenland ice core dust record reveals timing of Greenland ice sheet advance and retreat
Accurate estimates of the past extent of the Greenland ice sheet provide critical constraints for ice sheet models used to determine Greenland’s response to climate forcing and contribution to global sea level.

Tracing the geographic origin of Atlantic cod products using stable isotope analysis
Rationale Increasing demand for fish and seafood means that the traceability of marine products is becoming ever more important for consumers, producers and regulators. Highly complex and globalised supply networks create challenges for verifying a stated catch region.

Evaluation of physiological stress in free‐ranging bears: current knowledge and future directions
ABSTRACT Stress responses, which are mediated by the neurogenic system (NS) and hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis help vertebrates maintain physiological homeostasis. Fight‐or‐flight responses are activated by the NS, which releases norepinephrine/noradrenaline and epinephrine/adrenaline in response to immediate stressors, whilst the HPA axis ...

Decay of the Greenland Ice Sheet due to surface-meltwater-induced acceleration of basal sliding [PDF]
Simulations of the Greenland Ice Sheet are carried out with a high-resolution version of the ice-sheet model SICOPOLIS for several global-warming scenarios for the period 1990-2350. In particular, the impact of surface-meltwater-induced acceleration of basal sliding on the stability of the ice sheet is investigated.

Dark zone of the Greenland Ice Sheet controlled by distributed biologically-active impurities
Albedo—a primary control on surface melt—varies considerably across the Greenland Ice Sheet yet the specific surface types that comprise its dark zone remain unquantified.

ABSTRACT Actinopterygii makes up half of living vertebrate diversity, and study of fossil members during their Palaeozoic rise to dominance has a long history of descriptive work. Although research interest into Palaeozoic actinopterygians has increased in recent years, broader patterns of diversity and diversity dynamics remain critically understudied.

A large impact crater beneath Hiawatha Glacier in northwest Greenland
Researchers present the first unambiguous discovery of a 31-km-wide impact crater buried beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet. We report the discovery of a large impact crater beneath Hiawatha Glacier in northwest Greenland.

Artificial light at night (ALAN) has global impacts on animals, yet its effects in polar regions remain underexplored. In this study, we analyzed a decade of citizen science data on seabird occurrences in Longyearbyen, using remote sensing data to assess the impact of ALAN during the polar night.
