The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Green analytical methods for total petroleum hydrocarbons determination in soils and sediments: a comparative review using AGREEprep and BAGI metrics

open access: yesGreen Analytical Chemistry
The determination of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in soils and sediments is a critical task in environmental monitoring, site assessment, and forensic investigations.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Salmon abundance and patterns of forest greenness as measured by satellite imagery

open access: yes, 2020
Linkages across ecosystems can shape productivity. Salmon carcasses are exemplary of cross-system linkages, because they can fertilize riparian vegetation and shape patterns of terrestrial biodiversity.

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

The “things” we adjust for in greenness epidemiology: relationships between greenness and lifestyle and environmental factors in the Swedish SCAPIS cohort

open access: yesEnvironment International
Background: Residential greenness is linked to health, but its relationships with environmental exposures and lifestyle factors—often treated as confounders or mediators—are less clear.

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Development of Green RP-HPLC method for determination of sorafenib in film-coated tablets [PDF]

open access: yesMakedonsko Farmacevtski Bilten
A new green RP-HPLC method for the determination of sorafenib in film-coated tablets was developed and validated. The chromatographic separation was carried on a LichroCART® 60 RP-select B column, using isocratic elution mode, with a mobile phase ...
