Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Informal Economic Estimation Models at Macroeconomic Level. Some Theoretical and Methodologial Considerations [PDF]
The analytical approach is conducted at the macroeconomic level and the problems that are discussed here come under the impact of the fiscal policy and the tax level on the macro stabilizing programs, the way it is approached in the literature and some ...

Population history, gene flow, and bottlenecks in island populations of a secondary seed disperser, the southern grey shrike (Lanius meridionalis koenigi) [PDF]
Studying the population history and demography of organisms with important ecological roles can aid understanding of evolutionary processes at the community level and inform conservation.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Green, grey or green-grey? Decoding infrastructure integration and implementation for residential street retrofits [PDF]
New-world countries are often characterized by large areas of sprawling post-war suburban development. The streets of these suburbs are often criticized for being unattractive transport corridors that prioritize cars at the cost of the pedestrian ...

Wearable face recognition aid [PDF]
The feasibility of realising a low cost wearable face recognition aid based on a robust correlation algorithm is investigated. The aim of the study is to determine the limiting spatial and grey level resolution of the probe and gallery images that would ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

White matter differences between healthy young ApoE4 carriers and non-carriers identified with tractography and support vector machines. [PDF]
The apolipoprotein E4 (ApoE4) is an established risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Previous work has shown that this allele is associated with functional (fMRI) changes as well structural grey matter (GM) changes in healthy young, middle-aged and ...

This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Deep Self-Taught Learning for Handwritten Character Recognition [PDF]
Recent theoretical and empirical work in statistical machine learning has demonstrated the importance of learning algorithms for deep architectures, i.e., function classes obtained by composing multiple non-linear transformations.
