Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Citra Radiografi Panoramik pada Tulang Mandibula untuk Deteksi Dini Osteoporosis dengan Metode Gray Level Cooccurence Matrix (GLCM)

open access: yesMajalah Kedokteran Bandung, 2014
Osteoporosis is one of the degenerative diseases associated with aging, which is apparent from changes in trabecular structure and decreased bone mineral density (BMD) The aim of this study was to obtain a panoramic image quantification method on a ...

Writ(h)ing Images: Imagination, the Human Form, and the Divine in William Blake, Salman Rushdie, and Simon Louvish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, we address issues in segmentation Of remotely sensed LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) data. The LIDAR data, which were captured by airborne laser scanner, contain 2.5 dimensional (2.5D) terrain surface height information, e.g.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Identification of the Infested Gray Mullets (Mugil cephalus L. 1758) by Myxobolus ichkeulensis Level in the Coast of Adana

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2016
Myxobolus ichkeulensis is one of the species fish parasites within the class Myxozoa that infests the gill filaments of grey mullet (Mugil cephalus). M. ichkeulensis infestation rates vary depending on environmental conditions and seasonal variations. In

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Evaluate the Potential Effectiveness of Air Power in Sub-threshold and ‘Grey Zone’ Operations

open access: yesAir and Space Power Review, 2023
Conflict in the grey zone has ever been part of geo-political rivalry, but despite this, hasn’t until recently been given adequate consideration. This paper expands the narrative on the effective use of air power in the grey zone through a literature ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Mixture or mosaic? Genetic patterns in UK grey squirrels support a human-mediated ‘long-jump’ invasion mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aim Clarifying whether multiple introductions of a species remain relatively isolated or merge and interbreed is essential for understanding the dynamics of invasion processes.
