Modelling prey consumption and switching by UK grey seals [PDF]
Grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) are adaptable generalist predatorswhose diet includes commercial fish species such as cod. Consumption by the seals may reduce the size of some fish stocks or have an adverse effect on stock recovery programmes, especially

Hepatovirus infections in juvenile seals from the North Sea
The discovery of several novel hepatovirus species in marine and terrestrial mammals has expanded the recognised members of the genus Hepatovirus and has provided better understanding on the evolutionary origins of human hepatovirus A (HAV).

There and back again – The return of the nasal mite Halarachne halichoeri to seals in German waters
The nasal mite Halarachne halichoeri (Acari; Halarachnidae) is adapted to live in the marine environment with pinnipeds as its primary host and can cause different levels of upper respiratory disease in both harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) and grey seals (

Amphiphilic non‐isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) coatings containing reactive hydrophobic poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and hydrophilic methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG) prepolymers for marine antifouling (AF) and fouling‐release (FR) applications were investigated. The coatings were evaluated with a set of representative marine foulants.

Patterned Screen‐Printing Process for Substrate‐Free and Scalable Hyaluronic Acid Microneedle Arrays
A substrate‐free microneedle array comprising a hybrid hyaluronic acid ink was fabricated via a scalable screen‐printing process for flexible transdermal drug delivery. Defect‐free mold filling was achieved using a vacuum‐assisted jig and a delayed drying system, and the use of this versatile platform for multi‐drug patterning and ex vivo skin ...

3D Printed Photon Shield Assembly for Low‐Noise Visual Stimulation During Two‐Photon Imaging in Mice
We present the Photon Shield, an open‐hardware system for low‐noise two‐photon calcium imaging during visual stimulation in mice. Combining a 3D‐printed headplate and rail‐mounted shield substantially reduces stray‐light contamination, as quantitatively verified. Functional validation confirms reliable cortical responses. Open design files enable broad

Grey seals on the Murman coast, Russia: status and present knowledge
Grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) are distributed along the entire northern Murman coast in Russia. Breeding sites are located mainly on the Ainov and Seven islands, which belong to the Kandalaksha Nature Reserve. The annual pup production was estimated to

Biodegradable and Edible Milli‐Fluidic Logic Circuits
Fully biodegradable and edible fluidic circuits are developed using gelatin‐based valves that operate at low pressure. Logic gates, a one‐bit memory, and a ring oscillator are demonstrated, showing that biodegradable materials can perform computation and control.
