Sand and sustainability terminology
UNEP/GRID-Geneva established the Global Sand Observatory initiative as a direct response to requests to identify knowledge gaps under the UNEA-4 Mineral Resource Resolution (UNEP/EA.4/Res.19). Sand resource governance is complex, spanning policy domains,

Grid-following and grid-forming PV and wind turbines
As penetration of photovoltaic (PV) and wind generation systems driven by grid-connected power converters monotonously increases, unusual interactions between innovative and legacy generation systems become more concerning, since they threaten the system stability and reliability.

Power-Synchronized Grid-Following Inverter Without a Phase-Locked Loop [PDF]
This paper proposes a power-synchronized control strategy for grid-following inverters (GFLIs) to regulate their power exchange with the grid without any need for sensing/regulating the point of connection voltage. Contrary to conventional GFLIs, which rely on phase-locked loops for grid synchronization and have difficulties in weak grid conditions ...

The Collaborative Semantic Grid
Grid and Semantic Web technologies both enable heterogeneous resources to be joined up to achieve new functionality and capability, and their combined effectiveness has been demonstrated through a number of ‘Semantic Grid’ projects. These typically apply

User oriented access to secure biomedical resources through the grid [PDF]
The life science domain is typified by heterogeneous data sets that are evolving at an exponential rate. Numerous post-genomic databases and areas of post-genomic life science research have been established and are being actively explored. Whilst many of

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Tutorial: Grid-Following Inverter for Electrical Power Grid
The growing use of inverter-based resources in modern power systems has made grid-following inverters a central topic in power-system modeling, control, and simulation. Despite their widespread deployment, introductory material that explains grid-following inverter operation from first principles and connects control design to time-domain simulation ...

Synchronous Fault Compensator for Voltage Sensorless Grid-Following Power Converters
During the last decade, the penetration of grid-connected RES systems has been in constant increase, forcing those systems interfaced to the electrical grid to improve and design new advanced controllers to maintain the power converter under control. The most extended control for grid-tied inverters is the so-called grid-following control.

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.
