Nitride‐Reinforced Metal Matrix Nanocomposite Powders Production by Plasma‐Assisted Thermochemical Treatment of Intermetallic Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Robust higher order sliding mode control of grid‐forming converters with LCL filter in weak grid scenarios for fast frequency support

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
This paper presents a nonlinear higher‐order sliding mode control (HO‐SMC) designed for a droop control‐based grid‐forming converter. In weak grid scenarios, where the rate of change of frequency is notably high, achieving a rapid frequency response ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Stability of Interconnected DC Converters

open access: yes, 2015
This paper addresses stability issues of DC networks with constant power loads (CPL). Common DC networks, such as automotive electrical systems and DC microgrids, typically have a step-up/down converter connected in one side to the main bus and, on the ...

Grid-forming control for power converters based on matching of synchronous machines [PDF]

open access: yesAutomatica, 2018
We consider the problem of grid-forming control of power converters in low-inertia power systems. Starting from an average-switch three-phase inverter model, we draw parallels to a synchronous machine (SM) model and propose a novel grid-forming converter control strategy which dwells upon the main characteristic of a SM: the presence of an internal ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Stability Analysis of Virtual Power Plant with Grid Forming Converters

open access: yes2024 International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST)
A virtual power plant is a system containing multiple distributed generators aggregated and flexibly coordinated to act as a single power source. This study investigates the active power, reactive power, frequency, and voltage support provided by a virtual power plant interconnected with the grid.

Copper Doping Enhances the Activity and Selectivity of Atomically Precise Ag44 Nanoclusters for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By a simple anti‐Galvanic reaction, up to six copper atoms could be preferably doped into the Ag2(SR)5 staple motifs and Ag20 dodecahedral shell of an atomically precise Ag44(SR)30 nanocluster. When anatase TiO2 is used as substrate, the (AgCu)44/TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much improved activity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction compared to Ag44/TiO2 ...
