Embedding rectangular grids into square grids

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1991
It is shown that two-dimensional rectangular grids of large aspect ratio can be embedded into rectangular grids of smaller aspect ratios with small expansion and dilation. In particular, width can be reduced by a factor of up to two with optimal expansion, i.e.

Digital Grid: Communicative electrical grids of the future

2010 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT Europe), 2010
To support a high penetration of intermittent solar and wind power generation, many regions are planning to add new high capacity transmission lines. These additional transmission lines strengthen grid synchronization, but will also increase the grid's short circuit capacity, and furthermore will be very costly.

Agora: Grid Community in Vega Grid

2004
In grid environment, how to organize, discover and use grid resources is one of the basic research problems. In this paper, we introduce a new concept called agora, which refers grid community in our Vega grid project. We propose a principle on agora as one of the basic design principles of Vega grid, which is the community principle.

Changing from computing grid to knowledge grid in life‐science grid

Biotechnology Journal, 2009
Grid computing has a great potential to become a standard cyber infrastructure for life sciences that often require high-performance computing and large data handling, which exceeds the computing capacity of a single institution. Grid computer applies the resources of many computers in a network to a single problem at the same time.

The Vega Grid and Grid-Based Education

2002
This paper presents research work conducted at Chinese Academy of Sciences, on the Vega Grid technology and dynamic geometry technology, and how the two can integrate to provide a dynamic geometry education system based on grid technology.

Grid Interoperability: An Experiment in Bridging Grid Islands

2008 IEEE Fourth International Conference on eScience, 2008
In the past decade Grid computing has matured considerably. A number of groups have built, operated, and expanded large testbed and production Grids. These Grids have inevitably been designed to meet the needs of a limited set of initial stakeholders, resulting in varying and sometimes adhoc specifications.

On efficient embeddings of grids into grids in PARIX

1995
A hardware independent method of programming a massively parallel machine (MPP) can best be supported by a well-designed run-time environment. An important problem in this design is the ability of efficiently simulating networks different from the hardware topology.

Grid quality: an interplay of grid and solver

1994
Abstract Currently, much attention is being paid to the development of adaptive grid generation methods, which generate grids that are highly nonuniform. Firstly, this is motivated by the expectation that a high density of grid points is only necessary in regions of large solution activity (steep gradients, large curvature, etc ...

Some Grid Automata for Grid Computing

2004
We use 2-Dimensional language to construct 2-Dimensional computer graphics model, use MSO or other logics to specify some graph property, and use automata model checking technique to check this model whether or not satisfy this property. From above process, some grid pattern recognition problem could be transferred to Model checking problem.
