On Embedding Rectangular Grids in Square Grids
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1982The main results in this paper demonstrate that there exist pairs of integers 〈E, D〉 (for "area Expansion" and "edge Dilation," respectively) such that any n-vertex rectangular grid can be embedded into a square grid having at most En vertices, in such a way that images in the square grid of vertices that are adjacent in the rectangular grid are at ...

Grid-user driven grid research, the CoBRA grid
Sixth IEEE International Symposium on Cluster Computing and the Grid (CCGRID'06), 2006A new multi-purpose LightWeight Grid system (LWG) is introduced, under the acronym CoBRA grid (Computational Basic Reprogrammable Adaptive grid). It provides the functionality grid users require, and offers grid developers the opportunity to test and alter grid components while the grid is in use.

Proceedings of the international workshop on Information retrieval in peer-to-peer networks, 2006
The problem of similarity searching is nowadays attracting a lot of attention, because upcoming applications process complex data and the traditional exact match searching is not sufficient. There are efficient solutions, but they are tailored for the needs of specific data domains.

The Theory Grid and Grid Theorists
2006 Semantics, Knowledge and Grid, Second International Conference on, 2006This paper proposes a novel research direction: to build the Theory Grid as cooperatively shared formal theories within a virtual organization, and then to implement Grid Theorists as the wisdom of crowds working based on the Theory Grid such that the grid theorists have the ability to find new theorems and propose new questions semi-automatically.

Survey of Grid and Grid Computing
2011 International Conference on Internet Technology and Applications, 2011Grid Computing is the third revolution of information technology after internet and web. It will change the mode of sharing distributed resource and services finally. This paper presents a historical record of the advent of Grid, then the new researched in grid architecture was introduced, which is core technology in the design of grid system.

Changing from computing grid to knowledge grid in life‐science grid
Biotechnology Journal, 2009Grid computing has a great potential to become a standard cyber infrastructure for life sciences that often require high-performance computing and large data handling, which exceeds the computing capacity of a single institution. Grid computer applies the resources of many computers in a network to a single problem at the same time.
