Grid codes vs. multi-scale, multi-field place codes for space [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience
IntroductionRecent work on bats flying over long distances has revealed that single hippocampal cells have multiple place fields of different sizes.

Evaluation of New Grid Codes for Converter-Based DERs From the Perspective of AC Microgrid Protection

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The ever-increasing penetration levels of converter-based distributed energy resources (DERs) in medium and low voltage (MV/LV) distribution networks necessitate new and revised standards or connection requirements of generating units. These standardized

State of the Art and Future Trends in Grid Codes Applicable to Isolated Electrical Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2014
Isolated electrical systems lack electrical interconnection to other networks and are usually placed in geographically isolated areas—mainly islands or locations in developing countries.

A Survey of Islanding Detection Methods for Microgrids and Assessment of Non-Detection Zones in Comparison with Grid Codes

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Detection of unintentional islanding is critical in microgrids in order to guarantee personal safety and avoid equipment damage. Most islanding detection techniques are based on monitoring and detecting abnormalities in magnitudes such as frequency ...

Entorhinal grid-like codes for visual space during memory formation [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Eye movements, such as saccades, allow us to gather information about the environment and, in this way, can shape memory. In non-human primates, saccades are associated with the activity of grid cells in the entorhinal cortex.

A New Perspective of Wind Power Grid Codes Under Unbalanced and Distorted Grid Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Increasing penetration of wind power has led power system operators worldwide to develop new grid codes for integration of a wind power plant (WPP) onto the grid. According to the grid codes issued by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in the US,

CodeGrid: A Grid Representation of Code [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 32nd ACM SIGSOFT International Symposium on Software Testing and Analysis, 2023
Code representation is a key step in the application of AI in software engineering. Generic NLP representations are effective but do not exploit all the rich structure inherent to code. Recent work has focused on extracting abstract syntax trees (AST) and integrating their structural information into code representations. These AST-enhanced ...

On Grid Quorums for Erasure Coded Data [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
We consider the problem of designing grid quorum systems for maximum distance separable (MDS) erasure code based distributed storage systems. Quorums are used as a mechanism to maintain consistency in replication based storage systems, for which grid quorums have been shown to produce optimal load characteristics.

On Grid Codes

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
Generating functions for the size of a $r$-sphere, with respect to the Manhattan distance in an $n$-dimensional grid, are used to provide explicit formulas for the minimum and maximum size of an $r$-ball centered at a point of the grid. This allows us to offer versions of the Hamming and Gilbert-Varshamov bounds for codes in these grids.
