Zero-crossing distortion in grid-connected PV inverters

IEEE 2002 28th Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 02, 2003
Zero-crossing distortion has been observed in the ac output current produced by some grid-connected photovoltaic inverters and this can cause a resonant response between the grid impedance and the inverter filter capacitor. In some cases, particularly with large numbers of parallel-connected inverters and with weak grids, the resonance can cause ...

Series-Connected Adaptive Stabilizer for the Grid Connected Inverter at Weak Grid

2018 Asian Conference on Energy, Power and Transportation Electrification (ACEPT), 2018
This paper proposes a series-connected adaptive stabilizer (SAS) to fix the instability problem between the grid-connected inverter (GCI) and the weak grid via shaping the grid impedance. Different from the traditional stabilization method, the SAS does not need to know the information about the GCI, therefore, it can be treated as a module ...

Transformerless Photovoltaic Inverters Connected to the Grid

APEC 07 - Twenty-Second Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2007
Renewable energy sources are getting more and more widespread, mainly due to the fact that they generate energy by keeping the environment clean. Most of these systems have an isolation transformer included, which if excluded from the system would increase the efficiency and decrease the size of PV installations, furthermore it would lead to a lower ...

Fault contribution of grid-connected inverters

2009 IEEE Electrical Power & Energy Conference (EPEC), 2009
The distribution grid is mainly built on a radial configuration where power is coming from one transformer substation to supply clients. Up to recently, in the rare cases where distributed generation existed, it was almost exclusively constituted of rotating machines, which have quite a different behaviour under fault than inverter-based sources ...

Enhanced utilization of grid-connected inverter

2015 IEEE 6th International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG), 2015
Smooth mode transfer of voltage source inverter (VSI) between grid-connected and stand-alone modes is achieved by operating the inverter in voltage control mode (VCM). However, this operation produces some adverse practical issues such as requirement of large rating VSI, limited real power injection by VSI, negligible operational capability in strong ...

Novel grid-connected photovoltaic inverter

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1996
Detailed analysis and simulation results of a novel solar photovoltaic inverter configuration interconnected to the grid are presented. From the simulation results it is confirmed that the harmonic distortion of the output current waveform of the inverter fed to the grid is within the stipulated limits laid down by the utility companies.

A grid connected current source inverter.

2009 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power, 2009
In Co-generation systems are required converters able to inject current with low harmonic content, traditionally the inverters are considered. In this paper is proposed to use the current source inverter instead of voltage source inverter, this type of inverters can accept a low input voltage to inject current to the ac mains. The operation, simulation

Dynamics of grid connected PV inverters

2010 IEEE International Energy Conference, 2010
Power failure of electric network identifies the hazardous aspects of inverter grid interfacing to linesmen maintaining power lines. Dynamics of grid-connected first order system indicates the necessity for an optimum tripping mechanism for an inverter feeding diversity of locally connected loads are analysed.

Droop PLL for grid-connected inverter

Proceedings of The 7th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2012
Using grid voltage feed-forward control, the current-loop parameters and filter inductor affect the power factor of grid-connected inverter. Based on droop phase-locked loop (PLL) a novel control strategy is proposed. The phase difference between the grid current and grid voltage is detected and is used to calculate the output frequency of PLL.
