Grid Faults and Component Failures
2011The Chapter describes grid faults; mainly short circuits and trips of big generators. These common faults or credible events affect system stability and security. The Chapter also discusses component failures, their causes and the calculation of failure rate estimates and unavailabilities. Fault and failure statistics are briefly described, too.

2017 International Symposium on Recent Advances in Electrical Engineering (RAEE), 2017
The stabilized operation of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) during symmetrical faults is a demanding problem for power system engineers. Transient peaks, oscillations, and higher-order frequency harmonics in DC link voltage and rotor circuitry will lead to the violations of the grid-code objectives during grid faults.

Stability study of a grid fault
2015 16th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA), 2015The exploitation of grids has witnessed a rapid increase during the last years. Indeed, a grid fault has repercussions on the quality of energy produced and transmitted to the users and thus on its stability. Consequently, regulators are installed to restore the stability and improve the performance of the power system.

Fault tolerance scheduling in economic grids
2011 International Conference on Computer Science and Service System (CSSS), 2011Computational grids using heterogeneous and geographically distributed resources. The unreliable nature of grid infrastructure make the challenges of managing, scheduling, reliability arise. Effective utilization of computational resources is efficient scheduling of jobs and providing fault tolerance in a reliable manner.

Fault Tolerance in P2P-Grid Environments
2012 IEEE 26th International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium Workshops & PhD Forum, 2012P2P-Grid system provides a framework for converging Grid and peer-to-peer network to deploy large-scale distributed applications. However, working nodes with heterogeneous properties can freely join and leave in the middle of their computation. The nodes dynamic participation arbitrarily at any time according to user's decision can keep changing the ...

Distributed Fault Management for Computational Grids
2006 Fifth International Conference on Grid and Cooperative Computing (GCC'06), 2006Grid resources having heterogeneous architectures, being geographically distributed and interconnected via unreliable network media, are at the risk of failure. Grid environment consists of unreliable resources; therefore, fault tolerant mechanisms can not be ignored.

Fault-tolerant policies for optical grid
SPIE Proceedings, 2008Optical Grid has been thought as a promising technology to support large-scale data-intensive distributed applications. For such a system with so many heterogeneous resources involved, faults seem to be inevitable. A fault in Optical Grid may lead to the failure of the application.

Threshold-based power grid fault diagnosis
2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2015This paper presents a threshold-based approach for power grid fault diagnosis in a power system based on correlation between fault types and basic measurements. The main focus is on faults that may occur on transmission and distribution lines due to uncontrolled events.
