Evaluation of solar photovoltaic levelized cost of energy for PV grid parity analysis in Malaysia

open access: yes, 2014
grid parity is achieved. This paper presents the detailed PV grid parity analysis for a 4kW residential grid-connected PV system based on the calculation of the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).

Linking community structure and climate vulnerability in desert plant assemblages of southern California

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Desert plant assemblages in southern California provide an opportunity to link patterns of community structure with climate‐driven vulnerability in a rapidly changing environment. California sustains an exceptionally diverse flora of approximately 4300 plant species, with 31% identified as endemic.

A Review of Solar PV-Grid Parity in Akure, South-West Nigeria

open access: yes, 2015
The abundance of solar energy in Akure, South-West Nigeria and its feasibility as an alternative energy source has been proven. However, cheap, Government subsidized but unreliable grid electricity and high cost of solar equipment are considered the ...

Emergent Spin Hall Quantization and High‐Order van Hove singularities in Square‐Octagonal MA2Z4

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Square‐octagonal MA2Z4 (M = Mo/W, A = Si/Ge, Z = pnictogen) monolayers are predicted to realize quantum spin Hall insulators with nearly quantized spin Hall conductivity enabled by an emergent spin U(1) quasi‐symmetry. Materials with Z = As and Sb host quasi‐flat bands with high‐order van Hove singularities near the Fermi level, making them promising ...

On the Importance of Span of the Data in Univariate Estimation of the Persistence in Real Exchange Rates [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper revisits the empirical evidence on real exchange rates' convergence to their purchasing power parity (PPP) levels. In their recent empirical study, Murray and Papell (2002) claim that the univariate approach provides no useful information on ...

Squeezed‐Vacuum Bosonic Codes

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We introduce a family of bosonic quantum error‐correcting codes built as a rotation‐symmetric superposition of squeezed vacuum states, which promise protection against both loss and dephasing noise channels. The robustness of these “squeezed‐vacuum codes” arises from being arranged at evenly spaced angles in phase‐space, and simultaneously in ...

Genomic Structural Variations Provide Insights Into Litter Size and Teat Number Traits in Hu Sheep

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Here, we conducted whole genome sequencing on 300 Hu sheep with an average depth of 16.51X. Two candidate genes associated with litter size and teat number traits were identified, namely MAST2 and AFDN. ABSTRACT Litter size and the teat number are important economic indicators in sheep production.
