In this paper, grid synchronization for gird-connected power generation systems in the presence of voltage unbalance and frequency variation is considered. A new extended Kalman filter based synchronization algorithm is proposed to track the phase angle of the utility network.

Effects of randomly charging electric vehicles on voltage unbalance in micro grids
2015 50th International Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2015Unscheduled charging of Electric Vehicles (EVs) may shift voltage unbalance beyond the desired limit. Effects of uncoordinated charging of EVs were assessed by calculating voltage magnitudes and voltage unbalances at the end node of a residential feeder.

Effect of grid voltage unbalance on operation of a bi-directional converter
2008 40th North American Power Symposium, 2008This paper describes the modeling of a 3-phase AC-DC-AC converter with two back to back space vector modulated voltage source inverters connected to a DC link. The converter allows four-quadrant operation in the P-Q plane and can be used to connect regenerative loads.

FPGA based DSC-PLL for grid harmonics and voltage unbalance effect elimination
2015 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2015In this paper, the design of DSC-PLL (Delayed Signal Cancellation Phase Locked Loop) based on FPGA is discussed. This method shows outstanding performance for detection of fundamental positive sequence component voltage when the grid voltage is polluted by grid harmonics and voltage unbalance.

Impact of electrical car charging on unbalance in public low voltage grids
11th International Conference on Electrical Power Quality and Utilisation, 2011E-Mobility starts to become an important part of our live. Germany plans to bring 1 million cars into the market until 2020. Nowadays the cars mostly use single phase charging with charging currents up to 32A and sometimes even more. 2-phase charging is also in discussion.

Negative-sequence admittance control scheme for distributed compensation of grid voltage unbalance
2012 IEEE 13th Workshop on Control and Modeling for Power Electronics (COMPEL), 2012This paper proposes to ease the responsibility of the grid for voltage unbalance correction with distributed generation systems. Specifically, the functionality to decrease the negative-sequence voltage at the grid connection point is added to the control of distributed generation inverters.
