The entorhinal grid map is discretized

open access: yesNature, 2012
The medial entorhinal cortex (MEC) is part of the brain's circuit for dynamic representation of self-location. The metric of this representation is provided by grid cells, cells with spatial firing fields that tile environments in a periodic hexagonal pattern. Limited anatomical sampling has obscured whether the grid system operates as a unified system

The Gridded Geomagnetic Field of India with MATLAB GUI

open access: yesData Science Journal
A unique two-dimensional gridded geomagnetic map of India is constructed using the geomagnetic field observations from 11 observatories of India, operated by the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism. In order to create the spatial grid, 11 spatial techniques

Mapping on the HEALPix grid [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2007
The natural spherical projection associated with the Hierarchical Equal-Area and Isolatitude Pixelization (HEALPix) is described and shown to be one of a hybrid class that combines the cylindrical equal-area and Collignon projections, not previously documented in the cartographic literature. Projection equations are derived for the class in general and

High-resolution one-day probable maximum precipitation dataset across India and its future-projected changes over India

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
This article presents a high-resolution (0.25° latitude x 0.25° longitude) one-day Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) estimates across India based on the daily precipitation records after climate regime shift in 1970s (1971–2010).

SMOOTHED GRIDDED SEISMICITY EFFECT FOR LAND-USE DEVELOPMENT, CASE STUDY: KALIMANTAN ISLAND, INDONESIA

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 2021
Smoothed gridded seismicity is an analysis model in seismicity that allows for the obtaining of a rate based on the b-value and the same magnitude range. The data study has been collected and analyzed from a background source gathered by PusGen, referred

Comprehensive framework for visualizing and analyzing spatio-temporal dynamics of racial diversity in the entire United States.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The United States is increasingly becoming a multi-racial society. To understand multiple consequences of this overall trend to our neighborhoods we need a methodology capable of spatio-temporal analysis of racial diversity at the local level but also ...

Metro Maps on Octilinear Grid Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, 2020
AbstractSchematic transit maps (often called “metro maps” in the literature) are important to produce comprehensible visualizations of complex public transit networks. In this work, we investigate the problem of automatically drawing such maps on an octilinear grid with an arbitrary (but optimal) number of edge bends.

Accuracy Evaluation Method for Vector Data Based on Hexagonal Discrete Global Grid

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
With the continuous advancement of technology for obtaining geographic spatial data, the accumulated volume of such data has been increasing, thus imposing higher demands on the storage, organization, and management of such data.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Best Practices in Crafting the Calibrated, Enhanced-Resolution Passive-Microwave EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature Earth System Data Record

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Since the late 1970s, satellite passive-microwave brightness temperatures have been a mainstay in remote sensing of the cryosphere. Polar snow and ice-covered ocean and land surfaces are especially sensitive to climate change and are observed to ...
