Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

GRID-DL – SEMANTIC GRID INFORMATION SERVICE [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computing, 2011
The effectiveness of complex Grid systems strongly depends on the availability, accuracy and relevance of information on all connected resources, their characteristics and state. An access to this information plays a very im- portant role in any Grid system, providing necessary information for other Grid components and users.

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Very high-order methods for 3D arbitrary unstructured grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Understanding the motion of fluids is crucial for the development and analysis of new designs and processes in science and engineering. Unstructured meshes are used in this context since they allow the analysis of the behaviour of complicated ...

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Grid-based routing protocol in wireless sensor networks

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
A grid-based routing protocol in wireless sensor networks was proposed on the basis of node location. The protocol uses grids to avoid the complicated clusterhead selection and cluster division algorithm, also restricts the routing flooding data packages ...
