Food Web Similarity Increases With Productivity Similarity at a Continental Scale

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
Here, we test how plant productivity and anthropogenic fragmentation predict the pairwise similarity of food web networks within and among regions for 127 protected areas spanning deserts to rainforests. Food webs were significantly more similar at sites with similar plant productivity at the continental scale and within woodland savannas, and in ...

Hyperfiniteness of boundary actions of acylindrically hyperbolic groups

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We prove that, for any countable acylindrically hyperbolic group G, there exists a generating set S of G such that the corresponding Cayley graph $\Gamma (G,S)$ is hyperbolic, $|\partial \Gamma (G,S)|>2$ , the natural action of G on ...

Conformal dimension and Gromov hyperbolic groups with 2-sphere boundary

open access: yes, 2005
Suppose G is a Gromov hyperbolic group, and the boundary at infinity of G is quasisymmetrically homeomorphic to an Ahlfors Q-regular metric 2-sphere Z with Ahlfors regular conformal dimension Q.

A characterisation of snowflakes via rectifiability

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We prove a generalisation to every metric space of Tyson–Wu's characterisation of metric spaces biLipschitz equivalent to snowflakes, by removing compactness, doubling and embeddability assumptions. We also characterise metric spaces that are biLipschitz equivalent to a snowflake in terms of the absence of non‐trivial metric 1‐currents in ...

Connected components of the space of flags of SO0(p,q)$\operatorname{SO}_0(p,q)$ transverse to a fixed pair and restrictions on Anosov subgroups

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We count and give a parametrization of connected components in the space of flags transverse to a given transverse pair in every flag varieties of SO0(p,q)$\operatorname{SO}_0(p,q)$. We compute the effect the involution of the unipotent radical has on those components and, using methods of Dey–Greenberg–Riestenberg, we show that for certain ...

The systole of random hyperbolic 3‐manifolds

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We study the systole of a model of random hyperbolic 3‐manifolds introduced in Petri and Raimbault [Comment. Math. Helv. 97 (2022), no. 4, 729–768], answering a question posed in that same article. These are compact manifolds with boundary constructed by randomly gluing truncated tetrahedra along their faces.

Graph-Theoretic Characterization of Separation Conditions in Self-Affine Iterated Function Systems

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
For a self-affine iterated function system (IFS) {fj}j=1N on Rd defined by fj(x)=A−1(x+dj), where A is an expansive matrix and dj∈Rd, we reveal a novel characterization of the open set and weak separation conditions through the bounded degree of the ...

Toral symmetries of collapsed ancient solutions to the homogeneous Ricci flow

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Collapsed ancient solutions to the homogeneous Ricci flow on compact manifolds occur only on the total space of principal torus bundles. Under an algebraic assumption that guarantees flowing through diagonal metrics and a tameness assumption on the collapsing directions, we prove that such solutions have additional symmetries, that is, they ...

WDVV‐based recursion for open Gromov–Witten invariants

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract We give a computability result for open Gromov–Witten invariants based on open Witten–Dijkgraaf–Verlinde–Verlinde (WDVV) equations. This is analogous to the result of Kontsevich–Manin for closed Gromov–Witten invariants. For greater generality, we base the argument on a formal object, the Frobenius superpotential, that generalizes several ...

Entropy rigidity for cusped Hitchin representations

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract We establish an entropy rigidity theorem for Hitchin representations of geometrically finite Fuchsian groups which generalizes a theorem of Potrie and Sambarino for Hitchin representations of closed surface groups. In the process, we introduce the class of (1,1,2)‐hypertransverse groups and show for such a group that the Hausdorff dimension of
