Liquid Atomization Using a Rotary Bell Cup Atomizer

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2010
This present study investigates liquid flow patterns on the inner surface of a rotary bell cup atomizer and the effect of these flow patterns on the breakup patterns at the edge of the rotary bell cup.

Microtiming in Swing and Funk affects the body movement behavior of music expert listeners

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
The theory of Participatory Discrepancies (or PDs) claims that minute temporal asynchronies (microtiming) in music performance are crucial for prompting bodily entrainment in listeners, which is a fundamental effect of the groove experience.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Platelet rich plasma injections for knee osteoarthritis: an overview of systematic reviews

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Introduction Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent degenerative joint disease, particularly affecting the aging population. While numerous systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) have evaluated the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (

Enhancing Performance of a MEMS-Based Piezoresistive Pressure Sensor by Groove: Investigation of Groove Design Using Finite Element Method

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
The optimal groove design of a MEMS piezoresistive pressure sensor for ultra-low pressure measurement is proposed in this work. Two designs of the local groove and one design of the annular groove are investigated.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Quantification of the Synergistic Inhibitory Effects of an Oncolytic Herpes Virus Plus Paclitaxel on Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer Cells

open access: yesComplexity
Conventional synergy theory explains the inhibitory effects of drug combinations at specific times. Determining the magnitude of inhibition is crucial for exploring the synergy effect.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Study on Residual Stress Distribution of 7050 Aluminum Sheet with Groove after Laser Shock Peening

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2019
In order to study the residual stress profile of 7050-T7451 aluminum sheet with groove after laser shock peening (LSP), the residual stress distribution was measured. It is shown that the residual stress decreases gradually from the center to the edge of

Bionic Design and Optimization of the Wear-Resistant Structure of Piston Rings in Internal Combustion Engines

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
Internal combustion engines, during their operation, subject the piston to high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, requiring it to endure intense, continuous reciprocating motion. This strenuous process leads to significant wear and tear.
