Physiological Comparisons of Elite Male Visma Ski Classics and National Level Cross-Country Skiers During Uphill Treadmill Roller Skiing

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
Longer distance cross-country ski (14–220 km) races such as the Visma Ski Classics (VSC) has recently gained attention in addition to the traditional Olympic distances (5–50 km) associated with cross-country (XC) skiing.

Output volatility and efficiency gains: evidence from Latin American gross value added

open access: yesJournal of Applied Economics, 2021
Based on gross value added (GVA) shares of economic activities from 1990 to 2014, the paper shows that convex growth-instability frontiers exist for 19 Latin American countries. Numerical simulations show that in 2011, Latin America's industry portfolios

Experimental Investigation of a 300 kW Organic Rankine Cycle Unit with Radial Turbine for Low-Grade Waste Heat Recovery

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The performance of a 300 kW organic Rankine cycle (ORC) prototype was experimentally investigated for low-grade waste heat recovery in industry. The prototype employed a specially developed single-stage radial turbine that was integrated with a semi ...

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Determining the Efficiency and Inefficiency Intervals of Crop Production in Iran [PDF]

open access: yesپژوهشهای اقتصادی, 2020
In this study, using the classic and developed models of data envelopment analysis, the frontiers of efficiency and inefficiency were determined for 29 irrigated crops and the relative position of products was determined in terms of gross income and ...

Identification of a general light use efficiency model for gross primary production [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2011
Non-stationary and non-linear dynamic time series analysis tools are applied to multi-annual eddy covariance and micrometeorological data from 44 FLUXNET sites to derive a light use efficiency model for gross primary production on a daily basis.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Effects of familiarization on reliability of muscle-activation and gross efficiency in adolescents and adults [PDF]

open access: yesCogent Medicine, 2016
We investigated the effects of familiarization on the reliability of gross efficiency (GE) and lower-limb electromyography (EMG-rms) of adults and adolescents. We also evaluated the relationship between inter-test differences in GE and EMG-rms. Nine adult and nine adolescent cyclists performed three 10-min cycling tests at 50% of peak power output ...
