Valorisation of Ribes nigrum L. Pomace, an Agri-Food By-Product to Design a New Cosmetic Active
The ethical and ecological concerns of today’s consumers looking for both sustainable and efficient ingredients in finished products, put a lot of pressure on the cosmetic market actors who are being driven to profoundly modify the strategies adopted to ...

Summary Nectar contains antimicrobial constituents including hydrogen peroxide, yet it is unclear how widespread nectar hydrogen peroxide might be among plant species or how effective it is against common nectar microbes. Here, we surveyed 45 flowering plant species across 23 families and reviewed the literature to assess the field‐realistic range of ...

Flying by night: Comparing nocturnal pollinator networks over time in the Colorado Rocky Mountains
High rates of species turnover and plant–pollinator interactions were observed in moth pollen‐transport networks in Colorado summer 2021; however, networks maintained similar structures over the course of a season. Linkage density and robustness changed, but weighted nestedness, specialisation and weighted connectance did not; increasing floral ...

Conservation of endemic insular plants: the genus Ribes L. (Grossulariaceae) in Sardinia [PDF]
AbstractOnly two members of the genus Ribes L. (Grossulariaceae) occur in Sardinia, both endemic: R. sardoum and R. multiflorum subsp. sandalioticum. R. sardoum is categorized as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List and R. multiflorum subsp. sandalioticum is a rare species previously known from only a few localities.

Abstract Population declines of the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus plexippus) in North America have largely been attributed to the distribution and condition of species‐specific preferred nectar sources. In 2020, the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) listed the monarch butterfly in the US Federal Register as a candidate species under the ...

Interactions of water, ice nucleators and desiccation in invertebrate cold survival
Four case studies are used to examine the relationships of water, ice nucleators and desiccation in the cold survival of invertebrates and the viability of frozen plant material: the freeze intolerant Antarctic springtail Cryptopygus antarcticus (Willem)

New sources of essential and other nutritionally and/or pharmacologically important fatty acids for human use can be discovered through bioprospecting. Demonstrating how fatty acids in plants and algae are distributed across a phylogeny is a critical first step in this process.
