Weibull-Distributed Ground Clutter
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1981Weibull-distributed ground clutter of cultivated land was measured using an L-band long-range air-route surveillance radar (ARSR) having a 3.0 ?s pulsewidth and a 1.23° beamwidth at very low grazing angles between 0.21° and 0.32°. It is shown that the shape parameter of the Weibull distribution varied from c = 1.507 to c = 2.0, corresponding to the ...

Statistical analyses of measured radar ground clutter data
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1999The performance of ground-based surveillance radars strongly depends on the distribution and spectral characteristics of ground clutter. To design signal processing algorithms that exploit the knowledge of clutter characteristics, a preliminary statistical analysis of ground-clutter data is necessary.

Suppression of ground and weather clutter
IEE Proceedings, Part F: Communications, Radar and Signal Processing, 1981It is shown that Weibull-distributed weather clutter obeys a Weibull distribution after passing through a moving target indicator (MTI) processor realised by a double canceller. Both ground and weather clutter can be thus suppressed by using the method of MTI and new Weibull constant false alarm rate (CFAR) systems.

Polarisation behaviour off ground clutter during dwell time
IEE Proceedings, Part F: Radar and Signal Processing, 1991The paper analyses the behaviour of ground clutter during dwell time in a lowresolution radar. The analysis is made with reference to measurements made through a pulse radar using right-handed circular polarisation at transmit and two orthogonally circularly polarised channels on reception.

Radar ground clutter prediction
SPIE Proceedings, 2003To investigate the potentiality of a radar ground prediction radar satellite data (SAR) have been studied for the generation of clutter estimation models. The generation of clutter statistics as well as scrutinized analysis of specific dependencies and influences of backscatter processes and behaviour is the basis for statistical clutter prediction ...

Metal shields (or fences) are useful in reducing the ground clutter received by a radar. The design of a clutter shield for an L-band monopulse radar employing a 60-ft parabolic reflector with Cassegrainian geometry is verified by scale-model measurements at K a -band.

Cylindrical ground-clutter shield
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1976A theoretical investigation of the influence of metal shields on antenna radiation patterns is performed. This study allows us to determine the proper dimensions of a circular cylindrical finite perfectly conducting shield placed on the ground around infinitesimal sources located at its axis, in order to reduce the ground-side lobe.

Ground Clutter In Optical Seekers
Optical Engineering, 1981A new approach to the study of ground clutter radiation in electro-optical missile seekers has been developed that utilizes a comparison between seeker responses for artificial and measured infrared (IR) scenes. Seeker responses were statistically very much the same for both types of input except at a few isolated points thought to be the commonly ...

Sea and ground radar clutter modeling
2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008The modeling of the clutter echoes is a central issue for the design and performance evaluation of radar systems. The aim of this paper is to describe the state-of-the-art approaches to the modeling and understanding of land and sea clutter echoes and their implications on performance prediction and signal processors design.
