Ground Clutter Canceling with a Regression Filter
Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 1999Abstract This paper explores ground clutter filtering with a class of cancelers that use regression. Regression filters perform this task in a simple manner, resulting in similar or better performance than the fifth-order elliptic filter implemented in the WSR-88D.

Design of SLB systems in the presence of correlated ground clutter
IEE Proceedings - Radar, Sonar and Navigation, 2000Impulsive interference might increase the number of false alarms in a surveillance radar. The sidelobe-blanking (SLB) device, used in connection with the radar system, reduces the number of false alarms when the interference impinges on the antenna sidelobes.

Simulation of Ground Clutter Based on GPU and RTX
2016Clutter computation becomes a bottleneck of radar simulation. To solve this problem, a parallel simulation method for clutter computation is introduced based on GPU platform. Blocks in GPU compute the clutter of each scattering unit in parallel, and threads in each block parallel compute the clutter of each differential unit in scattering unit ...

Statistical Analysis of High-Resolution SAR Ground Clutter Data
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2007This paper deals with the problem of modeling high-resolution synthetic aperture radar clutter data from different vegetated areas. We analyzed moving and stationary target recognition (MSTAR) data sets focusing on histograms, moments, and covariance of clutter amplitude, texture, and speckle.

Study on Clutter Suppression on Ground Penetration Radar
2018 IEEE International Workshop on Electromagnetics:Applications and Student Innovation Competition (iWEM), 2018When the antenna of the underground radar is away from the ground surface, large reflection occurs on the ground surface, and it is difficult to extract weak responses in the ground and to reconstruct an image. In this paper, clutter removal means for suppressing reflection by the ground surface was studied, assuming application in landmine exploration

Addressing Ground Clutter Corruption of Sodar Measurements
45th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2007Echoes from ground clutter around a SODAR may result in a low bias in the wind speed measured by a SODAR. Typically, some, but not all, of the data collected by a SODAR at a site with ground clutter may be corrupted in this manner. In this study, methods to identify acceptable data points in already-collected data are explored, as well as the use of ...

Identification of a target in presence of ground clutter using polarisation
1988 IEEE AP-S. International Symposium, Antennas and Propagation, 1991AbstractThis article examines the polarimetric method of identification of a target in the presence of ground clutter. The clutter is modeled as a two‐layer random medium. The complex scattering matrix for the clutter is obtained by using Born approximations carried to the second order to extract the crosspolarized scattered fields.

Global clutter statistics for ground based radars
21st IEEE Convention of the Electrical and Electronic Engineers in Israel. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX377), 2002Ground clutter is a factor which limits radar ability to detect low-flying targets. A new physical model is proposed from which the global statistics of the clutter are derived. The observed specific clutter of the ground for this model is shown to follow a Weibull distribution with spread parameter equal to /spl radic/5.

Computer modelling of ground clutter in airborne radar
IEE Colloquium on Radar System Modelling, 1998The modelling of ground clutter in airborne radar systems is an essential component of assessing system performance but is computationally intensive because of the requirement to consider ground returns over the full extent, or at least a substantial portion, of the Earth's surface which is visible to the radar platform. This paper describes a computer
