GPR Image Clutter Suppression Using Gaussian Curvature Decomposition in the PCA Domain

open access: yes, 2022
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is one of the most generally used underground sensing equipment, but it is frequently contaminated by clutter and noise during data acquisition, which has a significant impact on the detection performance of buried targets.

Bio‐inspired nanophotonics: Structural color, chirality, and resonance metasurfaces

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
A butterfly‐wing‐inspired anisotropic plasmonic flatband resonant metasurface. Insets, photo of the butterfly, Sasakia charonda, and the SEM image of its wing scale (above); the SEM image of the metasurface (below). Abstract The dazzling colors of butterfly wings and hummingbird feathers are not painted with pigments, but crafted by nature's invisible ...

Examining early inhibitory control and emotion regulation as predictors of childhood internalizing and externalizing problems: A longitudinal study

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
In a longitudinal sample (n = 94), we tested links between inhibitory control at age 4, emotion regulation (ER) at age 6, and internalizing (INT) and externalizing (EXT) problems at ages 9–10. Early inhibitory control did not predict ER or later INT/EXT (no mediation), whereas ER at 6 showed prospective associations with both outcomes.

GPR Antipersonnel Mine Detection Based on Tensor Robust Principal Analysis

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a promising remote sensing modality for Antipersonnel Mine (APM) detection. However, detection of the buried APMs are impaired by strong clutter, especially the reflection caused by rough ground surfaces.

Analysis of the behaviour of ground clutter on behalf of clutter suppression with solidar

open access: yes, 1991
Interest in clutter is almost universal in radar research, because most of the radar echo signals received by radar do not originate only from the desired target, but also from surrounding objects or surfaces which tend to mask the target signal.

Revealing the Resonant Physics of Open Photonic Time Crystals

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are media whose permittivity is modulated periodically in time, enabling momentum bandgaps and parametric amplification of light. Their realization at the nanoscale can revolutionize the study of light‐matter interactions.

Where were all the trees? Computer vision meets landscape history to unlock the potential of historical Ordnance Survey maps

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The first edition of the Ordnance Survey's 1:2500 County Series is marked with treed areas, such as woodlands and orchards, and, remarkably, freestanding trees. Consequently, it is an unparalleled source of information on the distribution of trees across Britain in the mid‐late nineteenth century, when the maps were first surveyed. In order to

Ground Clutter and Noise Mitigation Based on Range–Doppler Spectral Processing for Polarimetric Weather Radar

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Spectral polarization filtering in the range–Doppler domain plays an important role in weather radar clutter mitigation. However, when ground clutter and precipitation overlap, these methods tend to filter out clutter-contaminated precipitation ...

Clutter Suppression in Ultrasound: Performance Evaluation of Low-Rank and Sparse Matrix Decomposition Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Vessel diseases are often accompanied by abnormalities related to vascular shape and size. Therefore, a clear visualization of vasculature is of high clinical significance.
