Target Influence on Ground Control Points (GCPs) Identification in Aerial Images

open access: yesIGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are used nowadays as a standard tool to derive very high-resolution geospatial data. However, UAV payload limitation imposes the use of not such reliable hardware affecting the georeferencing precision. In the literature it is possible to find numerous studies investigating the parameters influencing UAV-based products ...

End-of-life disposal concepts for libration point and highly elliptical orbit missions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Libration Point Orbits (LPOs) and Highly Elliptical Orbits (HEOs) are often selected for astrophysics and solar terrestrial missions. No guidelines currently exist for their end-of life, however it is a critical aspect to other spacecraft and on ground ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The DEM Registration Method Without Ground Control Points for Landslide Deformation Monitoring

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Landslides are geological disasters that are harmful to both humans and society. Digital elevation model (DEM) time series data are usually used to monitor dynamic changes or surface damage.

Autonomous Mobile Ground Control Point Improves Accuracy of Agricultural Remote Sensing through Collaboration with UAV

open access: yesInventions, 2020
Ground control points (GCPs) are critical for agricultural remote sensing that require georeferencing and calibration of images collected from an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) at different times.

Predicting in situ heat pump performance: An investigation into a single ground-source heat pump system in the context of 10 similar systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ten similar ground-source heat pump systems installed in small rural social housing bungalows in the UK have been monitored in detail over a period of more than one year.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Traffic control and route marking procedures of U.S. armored units.

open access: yes, 2021
The problem of traffic control and route marking, particularly under blackout conditions, is a major factor to be considered when planning the movement of large armored units in theaters of operation.
