Geometric accuracy analysis of the measurement Ground Control Point (GCP) in the rectification process of high resolution satellite image with polynomial method (case study: Wlingi Sub-district, Blitar Regency)

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2019
Abstract High resolution imagery can be used in basic map making process. Basic map is basic data used for Comprehensive Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) making. However, the use of high resolution imagery is still has geometric errors that must be eliminated by performing rectification process.

Deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and improved YOLOv9 for efficient benthos detection: a case study at Lake Hamana, Japan

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study presents a UAV‐based framework that integrates deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and an enhanced YOLO detector to improve centimetre‐scale benthic organism monitoring. Using hermit crabs in Lake Hamana, a coastal lagoon in Japan, as a case study, the method substantially enhanced small‐object detection performance ...

An Islamic Perspective on the Sustainable Development Goals: Exploring Key Challenges From the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Projects are typically viewed as mechanisms for delivering products and services; however, this study examines projects from the distinct perspective of grand challenges (GCs). The selected case is the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project in Lahore, Pakistan—a grand challenge project (GCP).

Accuracy assessment of DSM in mountainous forest areas generated from GF-7 stereo images assisted by ATLAS/ICESat-2 [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The successful launch of the GaoFen-7 (GF-7) satellite has made it possible to achieve sub-meter-level three-dimensional mapping. However, most current studies focus on accuracy evaluating of GF-7 stereo mapping in bare land, and less on its performance ...

Energy Security and Sustainability in the GCC: The Conditional and Contested Role of AI and Digital Infrastructure

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) economies pursue simultaneous commitments to national AI strategies, renewable energy targets, and Paris Agreement pledges, a key sustainable‐management question remains empirically unresolved: does digital and AI investment genuinely advance energy security and environmental sustainability in hydrocarbon ...

Automatic detection of aerial survey ground control points based on Yolov5-OBB

open access: yes, 2023
The use of ground control points (GCPs) for georeferencing is the most common strategy in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry, but at the same time their collection represents the most time-consuming and expensive part of UAV campaigns. Recently,

Sargassum Lung Syndrome: Air Flow Obstruction and Bronchial Inflammation Are Observed After Prolonged Exposure to Sargassum Gas Emissions in the Eastern Caribbean

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sargassum inundation of Caribbean and American shorelines is a growing environmental hazard. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and ammonia (NH3) produced by decomposing Sargassum could be involved in airway obstruction and bronchial inflammation. The study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of exposure to H2S and NH3 gases emitted during Sargassum ...

Rapid loss, and slow recovery, of coral reef structural complexity resulting from a prolonged marine heatwave

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Using Structure‐from‐Motion photogrammetry in a longitudinal study, we show that although coral reef habitat complexity had declined significantly by the end of the most prolonged tropical marine heatwave on record, no further losses were detected and 3 years later the reef had begun to recover this critical ecosystem function.
