Spatial and temporal stability of weed patches in cereal fields under direct drilling and harrow tillage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The adoption of conservation agriculture (CA) techniques by farmers is changing the dynamics of weed communities in cereal fields and so potentially their spatial distribution.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

True Armyworms Defoliating Corn Seedlings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The true armyworm is a migratory pest from the southern U.S. that feeds on the leaf tissue of early and late vegetative corn. Adult true armyworm moths are attracted to fields that contain living ground cover, which include fields with grassy weeds or ...

Studies on the shade-tolerant or shade-loving ground cover plants

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architects, 1968
Landscape architects grow different types of plants usually in the shade of trees or in the northern side of buildings in order to create shady sourroundings. There are many terminologies such as “Heliophytes. Helio-Sciophytes, Sciophytes”; “Light plants, Shade plants, Shade-tolerant plants” etc., which signiby different types of plants grown in varied ...

Plant communities ground cover digression of recreational sites in Valday National Park

open access: yesFORESTRY BULLETIN, 2023
The article presents the results of a study of the influence of recreational pressure on the ground cover of forest communities in the Valday National Park. The comparison of trial plots with different degrees of recreational pressure in terms of species composition, abundance of species and the ratio of ecological cenotic groups of plants is given ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Transformation of forest live cover under recreational load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
It is revealed, that the transformation of ground cover under the action of recess occurs with gradual reduction in the portion of participation before coating and variety of typical forest species and by an increase in the portion of meadow and waste ...
