Jets in Ground Effect with a Crossflow

AIAA Journal, 1998
Budgets of turbulent kinetic energy are presented in the vicinity of the stagnation zone created by the impingement of a turbulent jet on a flat plate through a low-velocity ...

Grounding Support for Effective Collaborative Learning

International Conference on Computers in Education, 2019
A common ground of knowledge is the foundation for collaborative learning. However, learners often do not know how to engage in beneficial grounding activities during collaboration, which highlights the need to support such activities and the development of grounding skills.

Effect of Ground Permeability on Ground Return Circuits

Bell System Technical Journal, 1931
The formulas for the self and mutual impedances of ground return circuits are derived without restricting the ground permeability. Curves are given to show the effect of a ground permeability 1.7 on the mutual impedance between two parallel ground return circuits with the wires lying on the ground.

Arcing Grounds and Effect of Neutral Grounding Impedance

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1930
This paper was written to review and extend the theory of overvoltages due to arcing grounds because of the increasing tendency to use impedances between the neutral point and the ground, thereby losing the advantage of the solidly grounded neutral. The ``third class conductor'' theory of Steinmetz is touched upon very briefly and is considered as not ...

Wings in Ground Effect

2009
This book aims to introduce you, our readers, to a new type of marine craft. At present there are still very few of these machines, though as long ago as the 1970s, a secret military craft of this type twice as large as a Boeing 747 airliner was already on trials in the Caspian Sea for the Russian Navy.

Nitrogen mediates above-ground effects of ozone but not below-ground effects in a rhizomatous sedge

Environmental Pollution, 2010
Ozone and atmospheric nitrogen are co-occurring pollutants with adverse effects on natural grassland vegetation. Plants of the rhizomatous sedge Carex arenaria were exposed to four ozone regimes representing increasing background concentrations (background-peak): 10-30, 35-55, 60-80 and 85-105 ppb ozone at two nitrogen levels: 12 and 100 kg N ha(-1) yr(

Ground‐Effect Machines

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1960
An analysis is made or the basic principles which govern the operation of those air‐cushion devices otherwise known as ground‐effect machines (GEMs). Most of these vehicles can be defined as machines which operate in close proximity to the earth's surface without ever physically touching it because they are always separated from it by a cushion or a ...

Influence of ground effect on longitudinal aerodynamic damping of wing-in-ground effect vehicles

Ship Technology Research, 2020
Accurate determination of longitudinal stability characteristics of wing-in-ground (WIG) effect vehicles is an essential step in their design.

Research on effects between grounding module and grounding eesistance

2008 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition, 2008
One of the methods to decrease the resistance of ground grids to safety regulation is to use the grounding module at present. In the first part, the ingredients and the principle of resistance reducing of grounding module were introduced. Then, set up the model of ground grids and simulated under different situations like the different fixed position ...

Research on Finite Ground Effect of a Rotor

2019 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2019
The enrichment of the application scenarios of rotorcrafts presents new challenges for the study of their aerodynamic characteristics, such as operating above a building surface of finite size. In this paper, the ground effect is divided into infinite ground effect and finite ground effect, and three types of finite ground effects with different ...
