Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

Possibilities for Measurement and Compensation of Stray DC Electric Fields Acting on Drag-Free Test Masses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
DC electric fields can combine with test mass charging and thermal dielectric voltage noise to create significant force noise acting on the drag-free test masses in the LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) gravitational wave mission.

Organic Electrochemical Transistor Channel Materials: Copolymerization Versus Physical Mixing of Glycolated and Alkoxylated Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work discusses the use of blended channel materials in OECTs. It explores how mixing glycolated and alkoxylated polymers in various ratios offers a simpler and more efficient route to tuning OECT properties. The performance of the polymer blends is compared to the corresponding copolymers, demonstrating similar OECT characteristics, swelling ...

Electrostatic Repulsion of Dust from Planetary Surfaces

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
Surfaces of planetary bodies can have strong electric fields, subjecting conductive grains to repulsive electrostatic forces. This has been proposed as a mechanism to eject grains from the ground.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Intramolecular Down‐ and Up‐Conversion in Dimeric Tetracene Complexes Centered via Platinum(II) and Palladium(II)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐tetracene dimeric complexes are synthesized through the pyridyl coordination to either Pt(II) or Pd(II). Photophysical properties are systematically compared as a function of the metal using steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. The Pt(II) dimer exhibits efficient intramolecular singlet fission and subsequent intramolecular up‐conversion ...

Accurate pointing of tungsten welding electrodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Thoriated-tungsten is pointed accurately and quickly by using sodium nitrite. Point produced is smooth and no effort is necessary to hold the tungsten rod concentric. The chemically produced point can be used several times longer than ground points. This
