Carbonation/granulation of mine tailings using a MgO/ground-granule blast-furnace-slag binder

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2019
A carbonation/granulation process for treating mine tailings using a MgO/ground-granule blast-furnace-slag (GGBS) binder was developed. The materials were mixed and granules produced using a granulator, then the granules were cured in a CO2 atmosphere. The optimum granulator rotation speed and retention time were 60 rpm and 7 min, respectively.

Synergistic effects in ground granulated blast furnace slag‒steel slag‐based geopolymer

International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology
Abstract To promote the efficient and high‐quality use of steel slag (SS), a geopolymer was innovatively developed from ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and SS using an optimized alkali equivalent method.

Soil Stabilization using Lime-Activated Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

"SP-178: Sixth CANMET/ACI/JCI Conference: FLy Ash, Silica Fume, Slag & Natural Pozzolans in Concrete", 1998
Soil stabilization with cement or lime is a well established technique for use in highway or foundation construction. Extensive laboratory investigations and a full-scale trial have been carried out to evaluate the performance of ground granulated blast furnace slag (ggbs) in combination with lime, for stabilizing soils.

Properties of alkali-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag blended with ferronickel slag

Construction and Building Materials, 2018
Abstract This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using ferronickel slag (FNS) blended with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) to produce alkali-activated cements (AACs). Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) are used to activate the GGBS/FNS blends with mass ratio varying from 100:0 to 40:60.

Properties of High Content Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Concrete

2018
“Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag” (GGBFS) is produced by the process for grinding “Granulated Blast Furnace Slag” (GBFS) that is a kind of by-product produced via blast furnace operated in steel works. Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) has been used in the construction industry for years as a replacement for Ordinary Portland Cement ...
