Freeze-thaw Resistance of Concrete using Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag and Blast-furnace Slag Sand in Salt Water

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Concrete Technology, 2023
The freeze-thaw resistance of concrete is significantly lower in salt water than in fresh water. Concrete deteriorates through repeated freezing and thawing, but in salt water, freezing alone leads to destruction. This paper investigated the effect of calcium hydroxide in concrete on the failure of concrete under such low temperatures.

Low heat concrete with ground granulated blast furnace slag

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
AbstractThe subject of the research is a concrete with partial replacement of cement with an increased amount of ground granulated blast furnace slag to reduce heat release of concrete for the structures of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (Iskenderun, Turkey). The concrete was tested for heat release, compressive strength and shrinkage.

Ground granulated blast furnace slag efficiency coefficient (k value) in concrete. Applications and limits

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2011
Recently, a k-value for ground granulated blast-furnace slag or k-value has been added to the revision of the European standard EN 206-1:2000. The proposed values during the disscusion in the working groups were very different because in most of cases ...
