Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Continuum Mechanics for Quantum Many-Body Systems: The Linear Response Regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We derive a closed equation of motion for the current density of an inhomogeneous quantum many-body system under the assumption that the time-dependent wave function can be described as a geometric deformation of the ground-state wave function.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Seismic Response of a Tall Building to Recorded and Simulated Ground Motions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Seismological modeling technologies are advancing to the stage of enabling fundamental simulation of earthquake fault ruptures, which offer new opportunities to simulate extreme ground motions for collapse safety assessment and earthquake scenarios for ...

Dressing of Ultracold Atoms by their Rydberg States in a Ioffe-Pritchard Trap

open access: yes, 2010
We explore how the extraordinary properties of Rydberg atoms can be employed to impact the motion of ultracold ground state atoms. Specifically, we use an off-resonant two-photon laser dressing to map features of the Rydberg states on ground state atoms.

Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Tall Bridge Piers Under Multidimensional Pulse Earthquakes Considering Varying Damping Ratios

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The dynamic response of tall bridge piers with varying damping ratios under three-dimensional pulse ground motion remains insufficiently understood. To control the pulse characteristic parameters accurately and eliminate interference from actual seismic ...

Data‐driven discovery of gene expression markers distinguishing pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia subtypes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

Intelligent Adaptive Motion Control for Ground Wheeled Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper a new intelligent adaptive control is applied to solve a problem of motion control of ground vehicles with two independent wheels actuated by a differential drive.

Proposition of isolation system applicable to the long-period earthquake ground motion (Method of changing natural frequency of isolation system with additional spring)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
At present, there are many types of isolation system, and many of them are designed for the short-period ground motion. The long-period ground motion has recently attracted the attention, though the isolation system for the short-period ground motion ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.
