Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

Jacking resistance in collapsed body considering buckling of force chain

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
In order to establish an effective and secure emergency rescue channel within a collapsed structure using the pipe jacking method, understanding the evolution mechanism of jacking resistance is crucial.

The Movement Characteristics of Coal Granular Body in Excavating Rescue Channel in the Collapsed Body

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
The collapsed body formed after the underground power disaster is broken into loose body. The mechanical characteristics of the collapsed body are quite different from those of the homogeneous rock mass, and the rescue tunnel is affected by its moving ...

A model for rock dissipated energy estimation based on acoustic emission measurements

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The temporal domain of dissipated energy during rock damage and failure is commonly quantified using loading and unloading tests or elastic mechanics-based theoretical calculation methods. However, these approaches cannot be applied to obtain the spatial

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Influence of pipe jacking burial depth and caving body particle size on mechanical properties of pipe jacking

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
The pipe jacking rescue method is to form an emergency life passage safely and efficiently by jacking a prefabricated pipe through the caving and collapse blockage area.

Condensate fraction in liquid 4He at zero temperature

open access: yes, 2011
We present results of the one-body density matrix (OBDM) and the condensate fraction n_0 of liquid 4He calculated at zero temperature by means of the Path Integral Ground State Monte Carlo method.

Elemental Phosphorus: structural and superconducting phase diagram under pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pressure-induced superconductivity and structural phase transitions in phosphorous (P) are studied by resistivity measurements under pressures up to 170 GPa and fully $ab-initio$ crystal structure and superconductivity calculations up to 350 GPa.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
