Retractions in Rheumatology: Trends, Causes, and Implications for Research Integrity

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to describe the trends and main reasons for study retraction in rheumatology literature. Methods We reviewed the Retraction Watch database to identify retracted articles in rheumatology. We recorded the main study characteristics, authors’ countries, reasons for retraction, time from publication to retraction, and trends over time ...

Dynamics of Human Walking

open access: yes, 2004
The problem of biped locomotion at steady speeds is discussed through a Lagrangian formulation developed for velocity-dependent, body driving forces. Human walking on a level surface is analyzed in terms of the data on the resultant ground-reaction force

The Effects of Insoles on Loading Rate in Level Running [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Introduction: Running is one of the most popular recreational sports in America with over 250 million regular runners. Recreational and competitive runners often experience over-use injuries including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis and stress ...

Effects of specific and non-specific court footwear on anterior cruciate ligament loading during a maximal change of direction manoeuvre [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of the current investigation was to examine the effects of tennis shoes and running footwear on the loads experienced by the ACL during a maximal change of direction task. Thirteen male participants performed maximal change of direction movements

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Biomechanical analysis of walking: Effects of gait velocity and arm swing amplitude [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background and Purpose: Human walking has been extensively studied by many investigators and numerous mathematical models of lower limb movements have been developed but few reports have been written about contribution of the upper limbs to the ...

Ground reaction forces of elite dressage horses in collected trot and 1 passage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this study, sagittal plane ground reaction forces (GRFs) in ridden elite dressage horses performing ‘collected trot’ and in ‘passage’ over ground were determined.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The Effect of Concurrent Activation Potentiation During Fast Stretch Shortening Cycle Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study evaluated the effect of remote voluntary contractions (RVC) on depth jump performance. Subjects performed the depth jump in a RVC condition and a condition without RVC (NO-RVC).

Reaction cross sections for proton scattering from stable and unstable nuclei based on a microscopic approach

open access: yes, 2007
Microscopic optical model potential results for reaction cross sections of proton elastic scattering are presented. The applications cover the 10-1000 MeV energy range and consider both stable and unstable nuclei. The study is based on in-medium g-matrix
