Ground reaction forces during sprint hurdles
Journal of Sports Sciences, 2021This study aimed to demonstrate ground reaction forces (GRFs) during sprint hurdles and to clarify determinants of faster sprint hurdlers. Eleven male hurdlers performed 60-m sprint hurdle trials, clearing five hurdles, during which step-to-step spatiotemporal and GRF variables were measured.

Ground reaction force complexity in hallux valgus
Clinical Biomechanics, 2021Investigating the complexity of movement systems can be insightful in clinical decision making. The study conducted to evaluate whether complexity of ground reaction force is affected by hallux valgus grades and footwear or foot side conditions.A sample of 120 females including 30 participants in each group of healthy and mild, moderate, and severe ...

Normalization of Ground Reaction Forces
Journal of Applied Biomechanics, 2006The appropriateness of normalizing data, as one method to reduce the effects of a covariate on a dependent variable, should be evaluated. Using ratio, 0.67-nonlinear, and fitted normalizations, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between ground reaction force variables and body mass (BM).

Ground reaction forces in children's gait
Journal of Biomechanics, 1988Ground reaction force patterns during walking were observed in 18 children 3 and 4 years of age. The children walked barefoot at a self-chosen walking pace. Selected variables representing the vertical, anteroposterior, and mediolateral force components were evaluated.

Ground reaction forces in distance running
Journal of Biomechanics, 1980Abstract Ground reaction forces and center of pressure (C of P) patterns were studied in 17 subjects running at 4.5 ms −1 . The subjects were classified as rearfoot or midfoot strikers according to the location of the C of P at the time of first contact between foot and ground.

Controlling the Ground Reaction Force during Lifting
Journal of Motor Behavior, 1995The control of the ground reaction force vector relative to the center of gravity (CoG) was examined while subjects performed a back-lifting task. Six male subjects (aged 24.0 +/- 2.5 years) repeatedly lifted a barbell. A biomechanical analysis that used a linked segment model revealed that the summed rotations of body segments during lifting yielded a

Characteristic Ground-Reaction Forces in Baseball Pitching
The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1998Overhand throwing requires contributions from and interaction between all limb segments. Most previous investigations have concentrated on the throwing arm itself, yet poor mechanics at the arm may originate in the lower extremities. Multicomponent ground-reaction forces of both the push-off and landing limbs were measured in six collegiate and one ...

Quantification of equine ground reaction force patterns
Journal of Biomechanics, 1987A method was developed to quantify the ground reaction force pattern of the horse. A number of selected force amplitudes and peak-time positions in the normalized stance phase of left and right contralateral limbs were used to calculate symmetry indices. Data from each limb were compared with those of a 'standard horse' resulting in limb indices.
