Analysis of ground settlement from braced excavation in soft clays
Underground structures are increasingly more common in Singapore to create additional space or expanding its train network. In order to build underground structures, braced excavation is one of the most common methods used.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Pile tunnel interaction : Pile settlement vs ground settlements
The underground space of densely populated cities contains parts of buildings, utility installations, deep foundations, tunnels, and deep excavations. It is possible, and increasing more probable, that new underground constructions will be built within proximity of existing pile foundations.

Evaluation of ground and building settlement near braced excavation sites by model testing
Braced excavations inevitably result in deformation of the adjacent ground and settlement of adjacent buildings behind the wall. Building settlement is believed to exceed the amount of associated ground settlement because of the additional settlement ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Mechanically Programmable DNA Hydrogel Microparticles for 3D Cellular Systems
DNA hydrogel microparticles are designed to exhibit controllable viscoelasticity and stiffness across three orders of magnitude from 30Pa$30 \,\mathrm{Pa}$ to 6.5kPa$6.5 \,\mathrm{kPa}$. They are uptaken into fibroblast spheroids where they are actively remodeled by cellular forces depending on their mechanical properties.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...

Prediction of soft ground settlement using drone-LiDAR surveys
Construction on deep soft clayey ground often experiences significant consolidation settlement. Preloading accelerates this process and is typically monitored using settlement plates (SPs).

Simplified procedure for estimating ground settlement under embankments
The settlement pattern of an embankment may not always be the typical one in which the maximum settlement occurs at the center. Other types of patterns may be developed with changes of embankment width or surcharge arrangements, which will require ...
