Thermodynamic analysis of ground source heat pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis describes in detail includes a brief description of the Ground Source Heat Pump as cooling and heating system, concentrating on thermodynamic analysis. Besides, the descriptive drawings make this thesis very easy to understand.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Development of heat pump model based on outlet temperature of heat medium

open access: yesJapan Architectural Review, 2018
In this paper, we describe a new heat pump calculation model that achieves the following objectives: (i) demonstrates the influences of temperature, flow rate, and load ratio of the heating medium on the system; (ii) describes the system characteristics ...

A finite difference based tool for analysing ground source heat pump system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The ground heat exchangers (GHE) consist of pipes buried in the soil and are used for transferring heat between the soil and the heat exchanger pipes of the ground source heat pump (GSHP).

Analysis of retrofit air source heat pump performance : results from detailed simulations and comparison to field trial data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the UK, gas boilers are the predominant energy source for heating in housing, due primarily to the ready availability of natural gas. The take-up of heat pumps has lagged far behind Europe and North America.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Design and Installation of a Direct Exchange Ground Source Heat Pump System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems are highly efficient, renewable and clean energy technology systems suitable for heating and cooling of residential and commercial buildings. This poster presented a design and an installation of a geothermal system

Can you take the heat? – Geothermal energy in mining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In 2013, there are less than 20 documented examples of operational geothermal systems on mine sites worldwide. This is surprising, since on remote mine sites, where fuels may have to be shipped in over great distances, heating and cooling from low ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.
